View Full Version : Question about Vivarium Electronics Thermostat
I finally got around to getting my enclosures on a thermostat. I got the Vivarium Electronics VE-300. So far, so good. Keeping temp in the enclosures spot on. I've also got the night drop set which is a nice feature.
My question is this...I am using the "proportional heating" option. The indicator light on the unit is blinking on and off. I am assuming this is the "pulse" aspect of the unit...brief bursts of energy to keep the element at a constant temp? Like I said, I've never used a thermostat before, so I wasn't sure. the directions are spotty at best so I thought I'd ask the experts...
Thanks guys for any input..

Exactly, I've got 3 ve-200s and I love them. My snakes took a **** last February which stunk up the house... (This was about 10am...) and my cousin opted to open the window instead of calling me to clean it. it was -27celcius outside, and just about -20c In my room, the thermostat kept my cages exactly where they needed to be.
They are amazing little devices :) I use the pulse option for cages, and the constant flow of electricity for incubators,
Awesome...Thanks Stephan! So far, I am really pleased w it...

I use pulse proportional 'stats for all my snakes, the pulsing is meant to keep the temps within a very close range of the target temps and i havent had any issues at all.

Honestly the proportional option is a better option as it regulates the temp by changing how much power is sent to the heat source. This way your heat source isn't spiking and dropping.

This is good to know...I wasn't sure if the "pulse" was really jacking w the heat source or was more "gentle"..
I really appreciate all of the input.
