Hi

Iīm from Iceland and I just got my first Boa Constrictor it is a 9 month old female, I also own a male Fire Ball Python that I have had for almost 4 years now, all snakes are illegal here in Iceland, so they are rather expensive and rare in my country.
I also want to ask you members if you can tell me whatīs the subspecies of my Boa?
And also what is a good name for a female Boa, my Ball Python's name is Tiny :D

Welcome!

ALL snakes are illegal?! Wow, that sucks. Especially for a country where pretty much no snake would ever live if it did get free. I wonder why they have such a strict control on them.

Everyone seems to be skirting around the issue here so here goes, if snakes are illegal to own in your country why do you have them? In doung so you are affecting snake owners everywhere.

You are also advertising the fact you are breaking the law on a public forum, not the best idea.

Anyways, welcome.

Thanks for the welcome, the main reason for the ban on reptiles here in Iceland is:
#1 The government is afraid itīs going to lead to a salmonella pandemic
#2 They are afraid that the reptiles will escape from their cages and multiply in our nature
Btw, the air temperature is probably below -0c for 8-9 months a year here

Welcome, I can't say that I am shocked that it is illegal since the government everywhere continues to control each and every action we do, but that's a whole different topic.

Once again welcome to the forums, as far as a name goes....I have a hard time coming up with them for my personal collection much less being able to give advice for naming others lol.....good luck to you, and she is beautiful

What is WRONG with you people? Didn't your mothers teach you that if you can't say anything nice then don't say anything at all?

He's in ICELAND how their herpers choose to operate have NO baring on what happens in either of your countries in terms of laws and bans. And they must not be too stringent considering he was able to procure two.

God. Just say 'hey man, welcome' and move on.

There are political links between iceland and europe, it has a dirrect affect on me.

And in terms of my mother, she taught to tell the truth and that is what i do, are you suggesting we should all support illegal practices as long as they arent in our own country?

Your country must be in AMAZING shape with no other issues than what people do in Iceland with reptiles

It must be pure joy to live in a place with no economic issues, unemployment, or crime.

Honestly.

I laughed hard at this. Not because it's untrue but because it came out of nowhere!

The lady's right. Iceland law has no bearing on our laws. If you tried to bring something up from there they'd laugh at you in a meeting.

hello and welcome

I think the only influence Iceland has on us here is when your volcanoes erupt and it shuts down our air space :)

Do whatever you want bro, if theres a snake ban for every species, what is a snake lover supposed to do? If it was just a few species, and you insisted on keeping one of those few, its a different story.

Welcome to the forums,

and for the people saying its wrong and illegal, its easier to say this and that when your not in that particular situation. If you speed in your car occasionally, or don't use the cross walk, same deal. So to the OP, use the cross walk, keep the snake, and you won't disrupt the balance of the universe.

Yea, we can't do everything illegally. So he has to balance it now that he has a snake in a no-snake zone he has to stop walking in no walk zones.
