Is this normal?

So Dobby, my new corn, is doing good. I fed him 4 days after I got him (yes I know it was a little fast), and then 5 days after that, which was yesterday. The first time he spent 2 days digesting in his hot hide and pooped a few days afterward. Yesterday he eagerly ate his pinky and went to his hot hide like before.

I come home today and find him hanging out on one of his plants, no visible bump, and he apparently pooped. I was afraid he regurged or something so I thoroughly searched the cage. Nothing but the poop. So is it possible to digest in one day?

If you didn't find a regurgitated pinky, I doubt it got up and left the enclosure on its own ;). Don't stress the patterns for digestion, defecation, basking, etc. You just got him, his 'routine' will become apparent with good time. If he seems healthy, don't ruin it by tearing the enclosure apart looking for a reason to think hes not. Maybe he pooped twice from the original meal, maybe he digested the new one, just don't over think things for now. Let him get established in his new environment

how big is he and how big is the prey item? How hot is your hot hide? It could have been a 'poop' from the previous feeding, i think that young colubrids (and young snakes period) operate a little erratically from the feed>>wait>>poop>>wait>>feed>>.... scheme that we see in adult snakes who are fed less frequently.

i have NEVER waited on a snake pooping before i feed it

imo theres no need to keep records of poop

you will know soon enough if a snakes constipated

if i waited for my snake to poop before i fed her again she would be skin and bones as she usually only poops every 3-4 weeks. she gets fed every 7-10 days.

sorry for the confusion;
No i dont/dont advocate wait for the snake to poop before i feed mine. That is just how it normally seems to happen with my guys. i.e. i feed on a saturday, and wed or thursday i normally start to see poop in the cages.
i was actually just trying to convey to the OP that they didnt need to worry about when the snake pooped as a direct correlation to digestion time.

If you ever want your corn snake to poop just clean the enclosure. That's a guaranteed way to produce a big nasty poo! ;)

My young Milk is almost never on a "regular" schedule. Some meals he poops 2-3 days later, other times it seems like it takes a week. I just feed him on his normal 7 day cycle and record when I do find poop.

If you ever want your corn snake to poop just clean the enclosure. That's a guaranteed way to produce a big nasty poo! ;)

My beardies do this every time.
