I want to get myself a Tokay Gecko soon. I was wondering who/where would be a good place to get a nice one? Preferablly a Cb but I am not sure how many of those are out there. maybe someone can enlighten me.

Tokays are so cool. The only place I know CB babies come from are at the pet store I work at and they jus wee lil babies. They cost $70 each. But Price can always be lowered. Maybe at the Toronto expo you can find some CB ones.

Pet store do you work at? 70 is not bad if indeed they are CB. I'd rather pay 70 for a CB than 29.99 for an easily attainable WC.

70 each!?!?! I bought my adult breeding pair for $75. I think that at the pet stores here they are $50-60. Im in Calgary Alberta and there are about 4-5 people here breeding them. I too will have some eggs soon if everything is going well. If you want some pics or anything just let me know.

Oh they sure do, Its not really a bite......it's a shred. The guy I bought mine from had to get numerous stitches all over his hands. I think it's best to use gloves when and IF you handle them. I hear that if you get them young yo can tame them so that might be a good idea. Oh ya for Marisa, try to find a breeder in your area. You will end up paying about $15-$25 for CB babies.

Hi,

High Quality Reptiles usually has some CB tokays for sale at the show. Matt and Susan are expert gecko breeders and should be able to help you out at a decent price.

Contact them before the show at www.hqreptiles.com

Hit up the Toronto Reptile Expo and see Matt and Susan of High Quality Reptiles *HQreptiles*, if they have any available, they should be coming to the show. I've seen their offspring personally, and I don't think you'd find anything more spectacular. Very healthy, oh so alert and "responsive", and beautiful colours to top it all off. From what I remember, they are NO WHERE near that rediculously overpriced *sorry SuperPet, not particularly aimed as an insult* $70.00.
If you want a flawless animal, check up with HQ before the show.
But hey, just my advice.

those things can bite you so bad you need stitches? ive been bit by them a bunch at work but never really hard, but i dont think theyve ever broke the skin. but i guess thats cuz theyve never actually clamped on. i guess maybe i should start wearing some gloves for these guys eh? theyre definetly cool looking tho, i was thinking of getting a couple in the next while. good luck on your search!

The whole "stitch giving" issue is more of a myth than it holds true. Sure, they give a hell of a painful bite, given if the animal is a full grown adult. Otherwise, babies rarely break skin, and juveniles can draw a tiny bit of blood. The adults get their terrible reputation for gashing the h*ll out of people because they do have a great deal of jaw pressure for their size, and a good row of tiny, sharp teeth that do lacerate... but the gashes come, more or less, from the panic stricken, bitten keeper who freaks out at the feel of the bite and pulls and causes the tokay to wriggle and roll in defense and fright. They truly aren't as horrible of a bite as people make them out to be. I speak quite a bit from personal experience. Gloves are your best gaurd against any form of laceration.

If i am correct they have an extremelly low value .. 15-20$ for the simple reason that they breed like crazy in captivity and have a bad reputation ..

We have a 1.4 at the zoo and have produced probably close to 30 babies in the past 6 month .. we just can't stop em from laying lol!
