I have just switched from paper towels to sani chips mainly for the purpose of spot cleaning. My problem though is my snake sometimes likes to borrow. so I am wondering is it best to monitor the heat under the substrate or on top. If the temp on the top is 86*F the temp below is 95-100*F. I don't want him to burrow and over heat. Am I just over thinking this?

I don't think there would be too much of a difference in temperature if you wanted put the probe on top of the substrate and see what the temperature is then put it under the substrate and see if there is any difference. :)

When I do check the bottom its 95-100*F. I think I'm just worrying to much like I have with all my animals.
