She is huge!! I thought I would post a couple pics. I hope these are eggs and not slugs again. She should lay in a few days. She does the petzel twisting a day or 2 ahead of time so I know when she will drop. She is as thick as my calf in the fat spot and hasn't eaten in weeks.

Looks promising hope everything works out!
So exciting man! Congrats! Are you going to incubate, or let the momma handle? Also, just curious. Do snakes with a nest get aggressive and defensive?

I plan to incubate. She wasn't too bad last year but I think gloves and a thick sweater will be needed to get her off her eggs. This is the only part I hate. I feel so bad for her :(

Well she is all twisted up like a pretzel so today is the day. Man did I screw up my math. A few more hours and she should drop her clutch. This is only clutch #2 ever for me so I am excited. I sure hope we get more good eggs than slugs this time.

Hey brotha,
Your girl lay yet? How many days is it now... from her pre lay shed?

I know she's bigger than my ball pythons but toss a large beach towel over her. Remember where the head is and remove her. I found they loosen up a bit and are easier to remove.
Just be careful. She can still bite. Good luck!

She wasn't to bad last year. I caught her right after she dropped them.

If you're there....just take em as she lays em. I've always done that if I'm around and, it avoids the stress of taking them from her.
Of course, you could always replace them with golf balls! haha.
She lay yet?

Today is day 30 .

Nope but she is still in the box and coiled like a knot with her loeer 1/3 inverted. It will be soon. Last year was my first time breeding so I am still very new at this. Last year she was 29 days to lay but dropped 16 slugs and 5 eggs but 3 of the 5 went crappy within days. The other 2 worked out great and I got 2 awsome jungles one of which has the sires strange texture. I am hoping this year is a little different. This is most likely her last season breeding but I may hook her up with my jag male next year because he is just too nice not to breed :)

OK 30..... bet you still have a day or so. All of mine this year have been longer than usual because of the cooler weather overall.
My Carpets normally go on day 28/29 but, this year was up to 34/35.
Cheers,

No worries,
It's been a weird year for a lot of keepers. Everyone I've spoken with has longer times than normal.
All of my BHP laying and hatchings have been a week longer than my average.

Cannot wait for update pics when she drops. I keep checking back in. Still wishing you the best of luch here terranaut.

Well she is dropping right now. The eggs look very small :( I think I may have another batch of slugs :( I will seperate her from them in an hour or so to be sure she is done and candle them but it doesn't look good. I wonder if my male has a low sperm count or something. Well I will update later tonight. Fingers crossed for at least a couple valid eggs.

Well, that's a bummer. I doubt it has anything to do with your male...other than maybe cycling. I mean think about it....we're males, All we have to do is make sperm and put it in a hole. Haha.
The female on the other hand has many more issues facing her to have a viable clutch. Temps can play a big role but, Maybe the male didn't get to her before she ovulated?....poor breeder that just doesn't get the job done?
I've had several BHP that always seem to bred but, wasn't actually "in there".
Who knows. I bet if you looked at his sperm under a scope...it would be fine.
Maybe try another male next year.....or, give her the year off (even better).

Out of curiosity, when did you start cycling and introducing the male?
What were your low temps, high temps? When did she start follicle growth and, when did she ovulate?
