has anybody ever wondered about the different localities of ball pythons and whether they might be different sub-species?
im just saying this becausee of the 3 balls i have ,lol, one of them, the male, is very different from the other two. First of all, his head is more narrow and hes got a longer "snout". Also his skins, texture looks more beaded thatn the other two. another thing is that his colour is very different from the other two in that he is a much darker tan and the other two are more like "gold"/

Anyways, I was just wondering:)

Thanks alot, Atabata

Hi,
I doubt they are different ssps... BPs have been so bred, and are still being imported from the wild. that there would naturally be some differences between individuals.

Ball Pythons (as with many other species of snakes, BCC are a good example to look at) are extremely variable in colouration and patterning. The sky's the limit. They can be all combinations of light, dark, greenish, yellowish, brown, busy patterned, reduced patterned, "jungle" patterned - the list goes on :)
