What would you house in here?

48 " x 36" T x 24 (or 28") deep animal plastics cage. Can only hold about 6-8 inches of substrate, has small slit side vents and 2 x 8 inch lighting circles and the previous owner drilled a 1.5 inch diameter circle in the back to fit the plug for the heatpad he put inside the cage ...I know but for the price I can't complain. Was thinking to house a monitor or 2 (something small) in it, however being that I'm moving I will be to create a more adequate enclosure, and don't want to be part of the group who say " its good enough ".

I purchased it for 130$ which was a steal considering its brand new and he only used it for 4 months to house a ball python (I'm assuming burned itself, or escaped through the hole he made for the plug :wacky:(they are 350$ new), has a heatpad, and the guy drove like 60 miles to deliver it to me haha.

It can also be oriented to be 4 feet tall and 3 wide, will just be a bit akward to open the doors. I have a dubia colony, and looking to house an active lizard species with interesting behavior, and can be housed atleast 2 or 3 together. I don't want something that will hide all day, and I don't want bearded dragons or anything like that....

Suggestions?

You stole that enclosure. As far as what to put in it the list is to long to type. A tree boa would do nicely in there as well as many of the monitors. Of course balls, kings, milks etc..... would all do fine in this enclosure. Why can't I ever find deals like this, lol!!!

I would patch the hole in the back. You can put the heat pad or flexwatt on the outside underneath controlled by a thermostat

I plan to do that, if I keep it. I don't know what he was thinking and it clearly didn't work. When I asked him what he kept in it, he said I only had it for 5 months, just a ball python and a green iguana :suspicious:

I'm a craigslist shark hahahah, I always browse the pets section, even though not many reptile keepers post, sometimes I get good deals. This was the best one in a while. I always repost and if I get good offers I 'flip' it for some cash. This cage already got an offer of 275 after reposting :D:D Its too easy.

About the monitors, I have to disagree. The substrate level wouldn't be deep enough without some modification, and the basking temps of a monitor may cause warping, andddd only the dwarfs could be housed in it. I'm going to build my monitor enclosure from plywood.

In the way of lizard in that size there are a lot. There are Chinese Water Dragons, I had one of those for a while, he was awesome. Like the other guys have said, some monitors would do well, I love those, but can't have one yet. You could also hold a good bunch of green, brown, or knight anoles. They are pretty small and have done well in a group in my experience (don't have them anymore though). You could also do some geckos. You could also do frogs, from trees to african bulls (those things are awesome, but absolutely huge). Kingsnakes, Milksnakes, smaller Pythons and boas, the list is just too long. If I were you I would do some research, see what you like. There is a book I would get if I were you. It is called " Reptiles, Amphibians, and Invertebrates: an Identification and Care Guide" by Patricia Barlett, Billy Griswold, and R.D. Barlett. It has tons of species of lizards, frogs, toads, snakes, etc. and care for all of them, including whether they are communal and their reccomended cage size. who cares, just stuff 'em in there. They should be grateful to even have a cage.

All jokes aside I would put a carpet python/carpondro/green tree python in that age. Or some type of arboreal ratsnake
