View Full Version : Went to Reptilia! (90+ photos plus videos)

So my hubby's birthday present to me was a trip to Reptilia in Vaughan, Ontario. We went on Monday, and it was awesome! Over 200 species of reptiles, including a 14 foot Nile Crocodile and a King Cobra of the same length, who breaks the record for the largest captive venomous snake in Canada.

Some of the pics are a little sucky, because there was no flash allowed and it was very dark in some parts of the zoo.

I live Reptilia. We try to go there once a year or so. Great pictures, mine never turn out that well :)

Yes, Prehensile-Tailed Skink is what I call them, same lizard though ;)

That's one hell of a zoo and the enclosures look like they get cleaned on a regular basis, that must take a while lol.

Is it me or did one of them boa's have a bit of tail missing?

Most of that is incredible, excepting the larger lizards.. The monitor cages should be humid with soil to burrow in, and they look bone dry with gravel... Zoo failures in monitor husbandry aren't new though.

At least they had big pools for them to go into, and lots of big boulders to hide behind/under. I guess they don't put burrows for display purposes. Not saying it's right, just an observation. Also, everyone's sheds looked good

One of the zookeepers told me to shoot them a resume when he heard I was interested in taking my own reptiles to schools (they are huge on education at Reptilia) I was bummed 'cause I live too far away to be able to work there...I would definitely LOVE a job at a place like that...
