Mozambique: stop turtle deaths now
passport.panda.org/go.cfm?id=15 (http://)
Turtles are washing up dead on the beaches of Mozambique, often beheaded, or with their throats cut due to illegal fishing. At least 40 carcasses have been found by shocked tourists since the start of the year.
In addition to this gruesome cull, a recent study estimated that each year, shallow-water shrimp trawlers operating in central Mozambican waters kill between 1,900 and 5,400 marine turtles as bycatch.
These deaths are preventable, but we need your help to stop the slaughter.
