Heres a few pics of my little guy, after a bath.

Just out of curiosity, does anyone who has had a roughneck remember how much he was eating at this size? Give "units" in roaches, pinkies, or crickets just for an idea. Thanks

Cute little guy! I've never kept rudis, but they're a monitor so I'm guessing he will be eating you out of house and home soon.

Yea hes pretty cute, not skittish but is always on the move and doesnt like to be held (wont his or anything, will just make a run for it or climb all over you, its on his terms for sure)

I should re-phrase my question, how many adult dubias is 1 pinky equal to, how many adult crickets is one dubia equal to, approximately, based on peoples experience on how many it takes their monitor to get full of each.

Hi, the question doesn`t make too much sense in terms of how many of each it takes to fill the monitor, because that obviously depends on the size of the prey items (and monitor), and conditions it`s kept under. If the conditions fully support, feed `til they don`t want any more, especially with the hatchlings/juveniles.
I would think there`s more nutrition in a few roaches than a pinky mouse, the latter which has little protein, and the skeleton isn`t formed. Much better to feed fuzzies (cut them in half along the length while still frozen if too big to swallow whole). You can also feed whole shrimp/prawns of suitable size, and small freshwater fish if the monitor will take them (do not just put live fish in a container of cold water, leave them on a saucer).

my sav decided he didnt like shrimp anymore right after i spend a good chunk on organic shrimp with heads and tails still on.. i am a lil upset about that lol..

Leave a couple out for some hours, when they smell bad, try again.

If that don't work, thaw some out, dump a bunch of worms over it, and give the mix in a bowl.

i've tried the first one.. need to get more worms so ill try that when i get more.

The only way I was able to get my monitors to eat shrimp was by dipping them in egg.

well he used to love shrimp! until we moved and i stressed him out a lil now he wont eat hardly anything anymore.. mice, MAYBE a few night crawlers and some roaches..
