Plastic Bin's

I have a friend who owns a corn snake, as well as a hognose, and he will be shipping off to boot camp in a few weeks. Well, I am most likely going to be getting his snakes, on the condition that his sister get's there tanks. (Fish tanks and she wants them, long story)

Anyways, my plan is just to use plastic bins for them, as there cheap, and will fit on the new shelf I bought for our animal room.

these are my bins, the big ones are 24x15x6the top big bin is comfortably holding a 2.5 foot kingsnake at the moment. top bins are both holding juvenile kingsnakes under a foot

I use sterlite bins :) Works better for me than Aquariums

Perfect. I have my BP in an aquarium, but that's cause she came in one.Planning on switching her over to a bin at some point so I can set up an aquarium.

How do you guys go about heating them? Will the heat pad I have under the aquarium be ok to transfer over a bin?

Make sure it doesn't cover more then 30% of the bottom, to allow for a thermal gradient.
Heat pads don't do a great job of heating the air but for belly heat they are great. Look up Flexwat for a bit and see what you think.

Thermal gradients are not necessary as long as the ambient is 80-82F. Only really feasible if using room heat. When I don't use room heat I just use 3 or 4 inch wide strips of flexwatt running the short length of the tub.

Sounds good. My apartment is set to 71 F all year, but I am planning on getting a space heater for the room they are going to be in.

Space heaters are awesome, but you still need heat tape or something to give them a temperature gradient. Preferably controlled by a thermostat
