Up until this weekend we had African Cichlids for years. I kept it natural looking.
Finally let the wife take over the tank and this is what she turned it into... LOL.
Not as bad as I expected.

Not my tastes at all in decor, but a peaceful, active community tank can be a lot of fun. Danios and Corys are nice, easy keepers with personality.

Yeah, its nice in its own way. I like Danios for some reason. They're kinda plain but always active.
Its frustrating though, we've lost two fish already. The tank was so established for Cichlids for so long I kind of forgot how delicate changing can be.

Sorry to hear that some fish died. Question did you use tap water and if yes did you treatt it with ph balance. Or did u use distiled water? My opinon take a few 5 gal buckets to your fish store and have them fill them up with good ph balanced water.

Ha, that's so cute!

But... the gravel isn't hot pink? You better fix that!

Haha, she's considering pink!
We changed out half the water before adding new fish. We used tap but treated it.
Another fish dead today and two now are showing signs of ick. I have quarantined them and am out now getting treatment.

Have you tested the water? It sounds like you may have lost your cycle.

Doing that after the ick treatment is over with!

Looks like the perfect setup for some glowfish - the new danios and tetras in weird florescent colors. I have some and they are very hardy. Have you seen them?

The ick is a problem for me as well, in my old tank. It comes back every now and then despite treatments. As long as no new fish are introduced, things go fine.
