The old cage was a 15gallon tall and the new one is a 30"tallX28"WideX18"deep reptarium I believe

I would definitely add more vines and plants. An issue you will have for many plants -- assuming you want them to thrive as well -- will be insufficient lighting. The perennial issue with live plants. If on the other hand you don't mind either rotating plants out or simply replacing them, then ignore that comment.

Are you going to add an actual substate?

Once your veiled reaches adult size, assuming it isn't yet, it will need at least 4 feet in height for climbing.

Veileds really like pothos; Scheffleras and Ficus benjamina make good trees for climbing on.

It's a female which only get about half the size of a male and only need an 18X18X36
I got a 28X18X30 wouldnt that be big enough for a female?? I know it's not as tall but it's on a tall dresser so it's high(ish) off the ground and that gives her more room to go back and forth than just up and down..

I don't know how I'd hang it, because the enclosure isn't very sturdy and the top is already sunken in a few inches from the lights on top..

18 x 18 x 36 is the absolute MINIMUM enclosure size for an adult female veiled. Bigger is always better. They are arboreal, which means they live in trees and want to go UP more than across.

You can use a hook in the ceiling to hang the light, unless you're in an apartment where you're not allowed to put holes in the structure.

Can you add that wire cage top to the new cage to give more height? Then you can put a potted ficus or Schefflera inside the cage itself.

Another thing some cham keepers do is to hang pothos outside near the cage with artificial vines going around between plants or some of the room; then they let the cham free-range part of the day. That would help make up for the enclosure being on the small side.

It's actually very important to give them plenty of height, because it helps them get adequate exercise, which helps maintain better health. Also, do you have a 5.0 UVB light above the cage? That is absolutely essential, and the bulb will need to be changed about every 6 months, as the UV output declines rapidly after that. Chams are really susceptible to MBD due to calcium deficiency; UVB helps them metabolize calcium properly.

Also, you need to have both plain (unsupplemented calcium) and calcium supplemented with D3 for dusting crickets. Only use the calcium supplemented with D3 about every two weeks. Read through the care sheet I linked above--it gives lots of details.

I have the vitamin, mineral, and calcium dust and I have a 5.0 uvb light, a 40w basking bulb, and a strip of 2 4500k bulbs for the plants in there. The UVB is hanging above the tank a inch or two, because the dome is to big to fit. The light strip and basking bulb just sit on top. They don't hurt anything so I just keep them there.

Sounds like you are doing pretty good so far. I know people who have built extensions to go on top of enclosures to give more height, but it sounds like you'd have to move the enclosure down off a piece of furniture to do that??

I don't know how i'd do that with the enclosure I have. It's a reptarium so it's just a mesh net around the frame with a sipper in the front..

Meh . . . I don't really know either. I'm not the handy person in our household; that's my DH! I usually say, "I'd like something to do this and this" or "I have a problem with this happening on this; can you fix it?" and he figures it out and builds it for me.

I'll just sell it when she gets bigger and buy a better one...i'e seen 18X18X36 and 24X24X48s for 60-80$ (I think) on ebay :)

I actually found the best price for a 24 x 24 x 48 on amazon, not eBay, especially as I have prime so don't have to pay for shipping on most things. Had to pay to ship the bottom tray, but not the main screen enclosure--yay!

A friend of mine took 4 old wooden screen house doors and hooked them together to make a tall phone booth style box. Add a bottom and a top and you have a great set up.... I think he built his for $50 using recycled doors that he found for free :).

my chams were in a 5.5x3x2.5 foot enclosure, with screen sides, that my dad and i built. the cage is sitting empty now, but it was a really great cham cage at the time; sturdy enough to add lots of climbing dowels and vines, and tall enough that we had a whole ficus tree and umbrella in there; as well as a hanging pothos plant. If i could change anything i would have had 2 of the walls be plexiglass instead, as humidity was a problem. Best of luck, and dont discount maybe building your own!!

Also, i wouldnt necessarily put substrate in, as you dont want to encourage your female to lay eggs. Unless you need it to bump humidity, i found that dirt/substrate just gave the crix etc more places to hide.
