Stillwater Hypo x Kingsville Red Bull Snakes (Fire Bull) - any experience with these?

Saw one at a herp store. Nice big eyes and pretty active. Anyone know much about them first hand? I've heard they are messy and smelly and a bit aggressive. I wanted to add one or two colubrids to the collections.

My bulls are a joy to keep. They do make big poops but if kept on aspen it is easy to spot clean the poops. When they are babies sometimes they are hissy but will become mellow adults with gentle handling. The do have a robust feeding response, so I recommend you train them to feed in a separate container instead of just dropping the food in their cage. Also they get big and are an active snake so a cage at least four feet long is minimum, bigger is better.

Thanks. Enjoyed your videos. Are these still a colubrid? I hear a lot about kings and corns, but rarely do I see bullsnake fans. I like the pattern and feeding response of the one I saw. Plus the name "firebull" sounds cool. I'm used to bigger snakes, but these colubrids see, really fun.

More of a display snake or docile enough for handling? EX: I take out all of my snakes daily to every other day depending on their mood. Tame as puppies. Are Bulls docile?

They vary personality wise. My '09 male Alfonzo is very tame, and so is his '11 daughter Rozy, but my '09 female Zoey is a little shy. When handling bulls they prefer to pass from hand to hand instead of just sitting in your lap like a ball python.
