I have an adult imported ball (8 months ago) that is on loan to breeder. I was called and told that it had some blood spots in its mouth. I was also told that it was in its waste and that if not treated it would spread to its complete underside. Apparently it is very fatal if not cared for and even then there is a 50% chance of survival. I have never heard of this before. The snake had acted fine even just days before I left it. It even was eating. If anyone knows anything about what this may be could you please post the information here? I am very anxious to know as I have other snakes which I am told could easily develop the same thing.

Discolouring in the mouth maybe a sign of mouth rot. Mouth rot can be a secondary condition to Respiratory Infections. You'd have to get a better description of these blood spots......preferribly a picture. But, whatever it is I've never heard of blood spots starting in mouth, being present in the fecal material and then spreading to the belly of the snake. Are you sure the breeder knows what he is talking about?

On a different note since your ball is WC I'd suggest hitting it with both Panacur and Flagyl to clear up any parasites it might have.

Good Luck!
