Two days ago I was fortunate enough to hatch out my very first crested geckos, I left them in the incubator for the first 24 hours till they had their first shed and offered food for the first time last night but did not show any interest in the food, which I have heard is not uncommon. I was wondering in other peoples experience do they begin to start eating.
There is a picture of on of the hatchlings!

It's really exciting when your first babies hatch! Congratulations!
I'm just wondering, is that perlite sticking to the baby in your photo? Perlite can cause impaction--it's basically "popped" volcanic glass; i.e., when heated to a high temp, the volcanic glass expands, becoming porous so that it will help with both aeration and drainage in potting mix. However, it's indigestible and not a good thing for herps to ingest.
Good luck with them--I know you're excited!

It is perlite that is stuck on them I was hoping that when introduced into their new enclosure they would rub it off but I guess I was wrong, any idea what I could do to stop it from sticking to them would be appreciated. Thanks

Thanks guys!
Look at that tail! What a cutie, congradulations!
Congrats on the babies, a light spray will help get the perlite off. As for feeding, generally mine would survive on the yolk and the first shed for about 5 days, then would start feeding.
