I bought a snake 3 weeks ago it didn't eat. Today I bought a hamster and put it next to her she didn't react she only hisses when he is to close to her... What should I do?
My snake is still small shi is 65cm long and looks thin to me, is that the reason that she didn't eat it? Or she is not hungry?

first, type of snake? second where did you get her from, what is she kept in, how are you heating it, why a freakin hampster? was she fed live before you bought her.

my first thought is a fluffy hampster probably looks to big for her to attack, thats why they are fluffy, to look bigger.

Also, if a snake doesn't eat for a few weeks, most of the time it's nothing to worry about. Pics, environmental conditions, type of snake, etc. are definitely needed.

ok, as for species im not sure, but i can guarantee 10,000% that that snake needs a major tank upgrade NOW. he would be better in a cardboard box or rubber bin.

no matter what the species he needs somewhere to hide and somewhere to regulate heat. it doesnt need to be a big fancy enclosure just give him some more room, grab a few bits of tupperware and cut some holes in them to use as caves.

Also, that hamster is waay way too big a food item for that snake. LOok at the size of the hamster compared to the snake! Charbel I think you should try young (weanling/hopper) mice. Best of luck..it's a beautiful snake.

Also, as mentioned if the plastic container in the picture with the hamster is your snake's permanent cage it's way too small. The snake needs a cage that is at least as long as its body and half again as wide, with places to hide, bedding and a heat source.

There is nothing wrong with hampsters.

Edit:

Now that one is a bit big. Lol.

ok, for the moment because we arent positive i would START by reading up on corn snakes and treat it as such, the basic information should be the same, at least it should all be better than this.

yes that snake needs water, it regulates by having a warm side and a cold side of the cage, and if it cant hide it will stress itself to death.

Lebanon Pet Shops (http://lebanonpetshops.tel/)

i dont know if thats acurate or not, start with where you bought it, they must have a source for rodents, try to find other snake keepers in your area, they will have a source, look for private rodent breeders as well.

you have bitten off more than you may have known my friend

the problem is that in lebanon all they care about are cats and dogs, they don't respect reptiles so they arn't important to them... the store where i bought it gave me small shrips but she didn't eat them... i am really confused what to feed her

I think the main thing is to find out exactly what she is, then proper care can be addressed. Especially when it comes to what her species is meant to eat, I'd try and find out at the shop you got her at. Was there a sign that said what species she is?

A good start to an enclosure can be very simple. You can pretty much find everything at a Wal-Mart or a department/supply store.

1. A Tub that is around 30-40 Quarts should be a comfortable size in case it gets a little stressed out with too much space.
2. You can use Paper Towel or Newspaper as a starter substrate as it is easy to clean the cage and is cheap.
3. Put two hides on either side of the cage (1 on the warm side, 1 on the cool side). Plant dishes work great and you can cut a hole into it to make it into a hide.
4. Get a decent sized water dish that can allow her to soak (should be able to put her whole body in). Terracotta dishes for plants are great! They are cheap and sturdy.
5. Get some heat going. Flexwatt heat-tape is great as it is safe and you can hook up a thermostat and control the heat. This should be on one side of the tank only, as the 'hot-side'. You can get these online or a Heat Pad from a pet shop. A cheaper but decent thermostat that I recommend is by Hydrofarm (Digital Heat Mat Thermostat) for around $25-$30, you can get it online. I'd recommend setting the temperature around 87-90 Degrees F.
6. Find a food source. I'd look around different shops and online to try and find a supplier. Rats are your best bet when it comes to nutrition (more meat to fat ratio). Judge the size of the rat or rodent by the thickness of your snake, it shouldn't exceed the width of the snake by too much, just about 25% more. Snakes can stretch so don't worry!

Best of luck, and I hope you find out what this species is, she is gorgeous!

this snake ate something in the wild, and im betting it was wild caught, you cant be the only one in your area with a snake or the store wouldnt have had one. you just have to dig around. ask if they know anyone else who keeps snakes and find that person for advice

charbel

it is a cheap store... he is more interested in birds and fish, he only sells them for money he doesn't care (i bought her for 15$ only)

i'll try my best, and yes i think it was captured from the wild.

That snake is very beautiful. I do have to say a couple of things. First is that while you're a noob, you did the right thing by coming here and asking for help.

Second, as has been said, find out what species that snake is. At first glance, it looks like a colubrid of some sort but given your location, that may not be at all accurate. The best thing you can do for that snake right now is find out what species it is and find appropriate food for it.

Also, make sure you don't leave the snake in the bin with that hamster. That hamster could harm that snake.

That link above is a really good reference point. If you search "dice snake" or "juvenile dice snake", the results are pretty spot on IMO. Same pattern, coloration, "rough" scale look. I think it'd be easier to confirm with clearer head shots.

Going to go with a Natrix tessellata on this one, and a very pretty one at that. Try feeding fish and frogs, but first I would worry about getting him set up properly. He won't eat until he's in proper conditions.

Make sure it's not too big of a meal. Also, make sure she's in a proper enclosure and has proper heat and humidity. Then give her a few days then try to feed.
