after a long time waiting, my supplier finally brought crested geckos in. I'll be getting mine on friday (hopefully). I asked for a male and female, but he has no clue how to sex, so I'm just getting 1 for now.
I'm excited! :D
ps. here's a question to any of you that keep them. I heard you can feed them baby food. What kind is the best for them?

They like peach and apricot best, but banana, pear and berries are also good options :D
at about 4-7 months (I hear different things everywhere you go) males get large bulges at the base of their tail, so it's not toooo difficult....
I'm beginning to fear mine is a female :( LOL it's ok though because that means a mate for her is cheaper :D
Hope I helped,
Heather

Thanks :)
I guess I might have to spring for a whole lot of them and grow them out and hope for a 1.2 ratio then sell the rest

I suggest you read CRESTED GECKO INTERNATIONAL (http://http://www.geocities.com/crestedgecko/) by Emerson Sy.
The site will tell you everything you need to know about Crested Geckos.
They love babyfood, but can't live on just fruit - they do need more protein. Bugs should be part of their diet unless you know your concoction of babyfood is a complete diet.
The site will tell you how to house them properly. Many people crowd theirs. Nothing worse than 4 in a 30 gallon tank - no personal space, -- life in a sardine can. If you get a group of 3 or more, start with at leat 35 gallons for 3, more woud be nice. Females get along in groups, though most likely one will become dominant, the main breeder, the other females probably will be breeding less regularly. Watch for the bossy female so she doesn't stop the others from getting their fair share of food. If they're crowded to boot, the stress could be even worse. Best bet to keep stress down and regular breeding is to house the females separately in 15 gallon tanks. That way you know the others won't be picking on her, and she's got no worries.
Most males are sexable starting around 5-6 months, the hemipenal bulge is very obvious by 7-8 months. That doesn't mean a 'no bulge at 7 months' is a female. Cresties are famous for the overnight sex change as late as almost 1 year of age. That's why it's impossible to sex them accurately until around 10 months, or you see mating behavour, find eggs, or see his privates.

Why yes they do, Kate! Once they were out of crickets so I had to get mealworms....just ask and they go into a 'special secret room' and grab a little container full of them...they're $2.89 and there's a LOT in there....it's like a bottumless bucket of worms :)
lol Murdoch grabbed them and shook them like a dog it was a blast :P
