So i brought home a new male leopard and i should throw this out early, he does look a little on the thin side. but even after only 1 day i have noticed a few oddities.

the dude never seems to sleep, my female spends most of the day in her hide, pokes out occasionaly and basks a few times a day. This guy is constantly active, i brought him home at around noon yesterday and was up until 4am, constantly exploring the cage and climbing, easily 10x more active then the female.

Also he is a voracious eater. where my female will leave food behind after 2-3 mealworms (they get a mixed diet im just out of crickets untill tommorow) this guy downed the entire bowl of 6 mealworms meant for both of them. then i had to push him away as i hand fed the female to make sure she got something. he also ate his share yesterday when i got him home.

2-3 mealworms doesn't sound like much. General rule of thumb I've heard is 2 for every inch long. I usually leave at least 15-20 at a time for mine (6 months old). She'll eat until she's full and leave some there for later. She'll go through those 15-20 over the course of about 24 hours, sometimes 36. I first brought her home when she was just over 2 months old and even then I'd leave about 12 at a time in there and refill it every day.

My gecko pounds down a dozen crickets and like 20 mealworms in one day

ok, so i was just getting ready for bed and i noticed something disturbing, at least one, if not both the gecko's seems to have regurgitated everything, i count 7 superworms in 2 piles as well as a cricket. they werent handled between feeding and the vomit.

im pretty sure it was the male but i have no way to prove it

I easily fed my Tokay 30-50 crickets a day.

Don't worry about the vomit. It is a way for him to "calibrate" how much he can eat. It will stabilize after a few more feedings.

I think that he was underfed at the pet store, and is now making up for lost time,
