Yoshi, my 11' 100% het albino, 66% possible het pied boy is only the size of a new born baby..
i have had problems with him since the day i got him and things were looking bad, then got better, but now i cant get him to keep down a meal... I thought i would start a thread dedicated to him and his progress...
i have him in a 6qt tub upstairs in my dinning room so i can monitor him all day/night.
pics to follow.
as you can see, she is going through a terrible shed now too on top of not eating reguarly and that fun stuff.
I'm going to get a wieght on him later after work, but Birdo, his girlfriend and a 11' baby as well, is easily double the size of him if not more... (i dont want to blame people, but some stuff i got at reptile expo gave me bunch of problems, and a few passed away...going to stick with the same people from now on. )

Could it be that because hes in the kitchen, and you monitor him "all day and night" that hes stressed? Maybe putting him in a low traffic area of the house in an opaque tub would reduce that stress.
Check his temps and humidity, leave him be and see what happens.

Have you been to the vet yet what did they say?

he just got put into the dinning room. hes in a opaque tub, and in a low traffic room, we never go into the dinning room. I JUST moved him up there because im in my reptile room a lot due to my tortoise, and bearded dragon being in there, so i moved him to a lower traffic area. as for temps and humidity, everything is spot on due to all my thermostats and hydrometers. (temp is at 93 hot spot, about 82 cool end and ambeint room temp of 74. humidity is around 50-60, then bumped up when in shed)... thanks though :)

Did not go, but called the vet and told him what is going on a few months back, i brought in a stool sample and he didnt find any parasites or anything like that. He told me to keep him updated and let him know if things change.

I trust this very for everything. No offense, I don't think there is anything parasitic wrong, I think he's just a problem eater. He will eat then skip a few, then eat ect...
Benzoate inrofloxacin suspension .(sp) We had a convo on another thread about this it made me talk to a few people. Which then led me to call my vet. Apparently this med is given for regurge issues and they snap right back. I guess the biggest issue from regurge is dehydration. Might wanna ask your vet. I think if your snake looks that bad and has had problems for that long and your vet has no answer/treatments its time for a new vet lol

I'll look into that, like i said, i trust him more than any vet- It is just a case of being a picky eater, and since he to help fix the dehydration issue, his tub is a consistant 80-85% humidity, and has a big water bowl. his stuck shed has came off already, and starting to look alot better...
so please, stop advising for a new vet please:) I know its just a problem with eating, everything else is just fine:) (shedding pooping ect...)

When I first got my ball he was small and looked underfed. He still hasn't grown to the size he should but he is getting there, similar to your story. He also is a problem shedder and I often find myself assisting him.
In the case of not eating....have you considered feeding pinky mice? I know they are small but you can feed multiples. Anything that stays down is a good thing.
Also, is there anything he can hide under. My ball was an issue eater when he was young, but he will usually strike for food from inside his hide and haul it in to consume it.
I hope you can find a solution! This is what helped us. Good luck.

If your vet has never seen the problems first hand then how do you know for sure that this is just a "picky eater" I know with any of my animals if want to know for sure.. The fact that the vet didnt request that your royal be brought in for a check over, and that he said "let me know if anything changes" would make me seek out a new vet ASAP anyway..
Back to the problem at hand, maybe the constant traffic in your rep room was causing stress, how long has he now been in the quieter dining room? How often are you trying to feed him?
You said you can't get him to keep down a meal but he's pooping fine?! How long has he been regurging for? As picky eaters don't eat, not eat and then regurge..
Good luck

you should contact your vet and e-mail him pictures of your snake and send in another fecal sample, also put the tub your snake is in on something rubber to absorb any vibrations that may transfer to the little guys tub rocking his world maybe also try a shorter day cycle so he has more time under the cover of darkness. those are just minor stress solutions i hope he gets better. ill name him rocky cause he is a fighter (take it or leave it haha)

oh boy.... i tend not to post these types of thread because i leave out things, and i cant type out what i am trying to say correctly...
he has been in low traffic dinning room for a few days- shed has came off fine, and he no longer has the "weak and lethargic look" to him. I am thawing out a small rat pup right now for him, one of the smallest i have, hopfully he will take that with no problem...
as to the vet- If he keeps down a meal, i will not contact a different vet, IF another regurge happens, i will contact a different one.
as to the pooping thing, but not eating... when he is eating consistently, he is pooping just fine, but when he goes on his little strikes, if you will, he doesn't poop (obviously)
so i am trying to clear up whats going on, but like i said... i think faster than i type and tend to leave out stuff, or mix up stuff.. ill post a new pic here later today.
Thanks all for the concerns.

I would double check your temps with a different thermometer. It could just be reading things wrong and it's cooler than necessary in there. That's generally the reason for regurges.
On to being a picky eater. Once you can get it to stop regurging I would try offering 2 slightly smaller prey items at a single feeding. I know of a customer of mine who got one of my babies that was picky. She now is a great eater on a regular basis due to the double meal.

You have humidity problems if he's a "problem shedder". It doesn't exist.
Double check your humidity and even use a different hygrometer in case one is faulty.

His first shed happened a week after we got him so sadly that time it was a humidity issue. We then picked up a ReptiFogger, His second shed was almost successful for the exception of his head and eye caps.
But yes you are right about the humidity, and we have adjusted it for him since then! When a snake sheds nice and clean, I'm a happy owner!
