Back home, he's doing great! Swimming around and lurking under things, inspecting the fish as they pass. Very active little fella. A little feisty but he didn't spaz when I picked him up this time. Really, the only thing he seems to get bothered with it if you touch his snout. Stroking the back of the neck is fine by him, but the moment you touch the snout, he'll snap that jaw wide open. Gonna leave him alone the rest of today so he can just chill. I'll work with him and handling a little tomorrow, just take baby steps so I don't stress him.
Such a gorgeous baby croc. <3 We've named him Ammit. Ammit was the Egyptian demon that accompanied Anubis when it came time for the judgement of one's soul. If the heart of the departed was deemed unpure against the feather of Ma'at, then Ammit would eat the heart and the soul was deemed restless at this point, unable to pass on to Osiris and immortality. Ammit was what appeared to be a hybridized animal of a croc, hippo, and lion, three of the largest man eating creatures the Egyptians feared. (I'm really just assuming gender, we have no idea at this young.)

Very cute little one! I might recommend though that you wait a week or so to start working with him on handling. Even though he is feisty, its still a baby and scared senseless at this point. Giving him a week or two to get used to his new home will allow him to acclimate and feel secure before you start trying to get him used to human interaction.

Mmk then. I was thinking maybe handling once a day for a minute or two would be fine to start with but I'll give him a week.

I know, its tough when you get such a cool new animal!
Trust me though, its so much healthier for the animal if you give it time to get used to its new home without the fear of being picked up. Imagine the ride it just had in that box on the way to your house. Little dude must have been freakin out when you got him out of that bag! Giving him some time will make the process of it getting used to you much easier in the long run too. Youve got decades to work with him, so giving him a couple weeks isnt too bad really. (though it will probably be torture for you ;) )

Yeah, it will be, but it is true about decades, they can live up to 60 years maximum in captivity!

Thanks! :D I'm glad too, I was a little worried about it, since Backwater was my first shipping experience, but you dunno how relieved I was to have a snapping baby on the other end when I reached in that bag!
very cute good luck to your fingers^^
