Hey guys,
My king snake easily shoves down 2 2gram pinkies. but cant get down a 5gram fuzzy, almost, but just a tad too big. Should I just keep feeding him (2) 2gram pinkies, or should I look for a single 4gram? If the weight is the same, does it matter if he eats 2 or 1 item? I heard it is better to eat a larger single than 2 smaller.
Reason I am bothering asking is because all my local stores only carry 2g pinkies and 5g fuzzies, and if I need something in between, I will have to order from the internet.

What does your snake do when you give it the fuzzy?

He spent about 45 minutes trying to get down the 5g fuzzy. He got the head all the way down, but he wasnt able to get the front legs to fold back. So he eventually rejected it. But he was very determined.

Try snipping the front legs off.

I would continue with 2 pinkies for just a bit longer. I am not sure what you are feeding, but it will likely be big enough to take a 5 gram fuzzy soon enough. No point putting that kind of stress on you snake in the meantime.

It is a Mexican Black Kingsnake, about 22"-23" I am not sure how old he/she is or how fast he will be growing at the moment. I know he is still young...ish, but I am not sure if his growing is slowing down yet or not. I have only had him for about 2 months so far. Tomorrow is feeding day. Maybe I will wait 2 weeks, trim the fuzzy then try again.

My corns are about 20" inches and eat a hopper.

Well its up to my snake really, like I said, I tried to get him to take the 5g fuzzy. He wasn't able to, do you have to trim the legs for your corns?

Well I think I figured out my problem. The "fuzzy" I had originally picked up was not a fuzzy at all. I thought it was too large but took petco for their word. It did come in a fuzzy pack, but somehow a hopper must have snuck through. I went back to petco today to pick up pinkies, and i noticed their fuzzies were smaller... and fuzzy.... not furry. So I picked some up and he was able to get down a regular fuzzy today.
