Although please feed in her enclosure.

I'm a girl :D..
And people have different opinions on weather you should feed inside or outside of the enclosure.. Until i see it stressing her out i will prob feed her outside of the enclosure simply because i feel more comfortable doing it that way. Once she gets full grown i might change it but until then.. both of my snakes get fed outside the enclosure. and they are just fine.. I dont feel like getting dirt and wood all over the mice so i like it better this way.

Nice boa, and with feeding its whatever works for you and your snake... I do think you'll change your mind when she starts putting on size lol.. Forget trying to move any of mine after food, they'd be latched on to me :)

Yup, thats why i said what i said, im sure i will once she gets bigger.. But for now.. I like being able to pick her up a and hold her for a little bit then feeding her.. She likes the attention and i like to hold her anyway :D

Yea, there are a lot of different things that people say about stuff like that.. But i haven't ran into any problems yet *knock on wood* if i do run into any then i will reconsider my ways of feeding.

Thanks Daniel :D
and i dont handle her after she eats.. i pick up what she is feeding in and set it in the tank and she slithers out into her cage..
And yes, she does like being held it's more exploring time for her.. they love to explore.

Snakes really don't like being held. They tolerate it.

Eh, thats fine... she hasn't bit me yet *knock on wood* i hope she doesn't but she is pretty docile and slithers every where so she can't mind it too much :O_o:

Docility and toleration is a poor interpretation of affection or "liking" something.
Just because a snake slithers looking for it's new safe haven or heat source doesn't mean it likes it. You've removed the snake from it's secure heat source or safe hiding place. It now has to find it again. Hence the slithering around.

nice set up .......here's another way of feeding if your worried about bedding bieng consumed.......place a lid in the enclosure and if your tong feeding wait till she strikes and drag her to the lid with the tongs still holding the rat......once comsumed most snakes head to the hot box and you can remove the lid and no stress or risk of bieng bit yourself ;) just a tip for ya !

Thank you very much :D i will try this.. next feeding day... usually every tuesday or so... ill have to move some things around for her.. she hides in her stacks 90% of the time.. i've never tried feeding inside the tank before so hopefully she will smell the rat and then come running. we will see :D thanks for the advice. :bouncy:

No worries ,happy to throw 2 cents in ,it works for me and i've seen others do this but i guess it's each to their own and what their comfortable doing ,but i do believe this is better for your snake without a doubt :) .....and feeding her in her enclosure shouldn't be a issue ,dangle it in front of her and she'll take it......boas can be pigs LOL , let us know how ya get on okay !

You can handle her. It's just not because she likes it. It's only because you like it. Tons of people handle their animals. I just choose not to.
Also, I have always fed snakes on their substrate. They aren't delicate little things. They don't need plates or anything else. Is their a plate out in the forests of Columbia? If properly kept then a little substrate won't harm them. Most of it won't fit anyway.

well i have my substrate mixed with soil and forest floor moisten wood chips.. i dont want her to swallow the wood chips. i love the substrate though .. she loves slithering all through it.

Didn't we go over how snakes don't love or like? She has no choice but to slither through it. That's like saying a dog loves it's cages because you've locked it in there forever.
Re-read what I said about snakes and ingesting substrate. It doesn't really happen and if it does, it can pass through them if the husbandry is correct. I have worked with MANY animals, hundreds, and I have never seen a snake die from substrate ingestion.

ok look... im not being rude to you.. this is only the 2nd snake i have ever owned in my life. there is no need for the way you are responding to my posts.. please stop.. you are talking to me like i am stupid and i really dont care for it.. excuse me if im a little paranoid. I care about my animals and they are healthy and their husbandry is correct so as far as im concerned that is all that should matter to you..

I'm letting you know the truth of these animals. No reason to be paranoid. These animals can digest carrion and bones! I think a bit of soil isn't an issue.
Common sense.
You may think I think you're stupid but I'm just telling the simple facts without any sugar.
