As we all know there's a millon and then some corn snake morphs out there on the market. I thought it'd be interesting for those of us who keep them to post the number of corn(s) you have, and list the different morphs you may have.

2 corns - 0.1 adult Okeetee
1.0 candy cane

and are waiting for a 0.1 ghost, as well as anticipating some more snows this season (from Mark Isbell) as well as maybe het butter baby from Dawn (Cas), if her butter female breeds this year. Can hardly wait for spring shows and lots of babies out there.

Sweet collection you got there, Simon. Although I'm sorry to hear you forgot about your balls. I suppose I'll forget that I carry mine with me 24/7 as I get older.

As for the other rat snakes, I've got a 5' gray ratsnake, and a 3' black ratsnake, both males. I've been wanting to get a leucistic Texas rat or a blizzard corn. I don't know why, but I've got this urge to get one of those and name it Clorox.

01-30-03, 12:20 AM
Matt,

LOL yeah cause you haven't really seen my whole collection. Well I actually have more but in other houses but then the ones that I listed were in the house that you came to visit. I guess that you have missed quite a few snakes. From what I remember you looked at only a few of them and you had to run...am I correct?

Hey I really liked the looks of those rootbeer....but then haven't really seen on in real life. I would love to see some of those someday.
The only downfall to them is that they are hybrids....as you can see I don't have much hybrids in my collection (except the frosted creamsicles which I think looks super nice and creams sometimes are classified as corns...so...lol) Anyway I am not trying to say hybrids are bad or anything like that....just in case someone misunderstands or something like that....lol...it's just my own preference..

Matt
01-30-03, 04:36 PM
hey simon,
i typically disagee with the whole concept of hybrids as well, i originally made the exeption for the rootbeer cause it came as a package deal with 5 others corns....now i have really grown to like the rootbeer...but still dont really care for hybrids (if that makes any sense)

and, ya, i know i didnt really get a chance to see all your collection (man, i wish i had), but i had to run cause i was picking up more corns later that night and stupid me, i got lost in your lovely city before i came to your place :), so i dodnt have much time
oh well...im looking forward to seeing more of your collection soon....and if you ever in the toronto area, come see the rootbeer!!

He boid keeper nice pic! Simon I love rhino rats do you have any pics?

Simon
01-30-03, 08:09 PM
Matt,

LOL....I didn't think that London was that hard to find was it.....lol...it's not too big of a city....lol
but yeah I am really hoping to see your rootbeer. I would think that they are quite nice.

I just got some Upper Keys and these guys and gals are really nice. The only little fall back is that they are small....compaired to corn snakes.

Sean,

Yeah I do have some photos of the rhino rats. But since printroom is going to close it's 3rd party link system I don't wanna bother to post....cause the link is not going to work starting Feb 1st....
so just go to my photo gallery and look at them.

It's:
http://www.pbase.com/candycanecorn

Hope you like them

Matt
01-30-03, 08:43 PM
LOL simon,
no London wasnt hard to find, it was the damn street i had to turn down...there were like NO lights, it was way too dark and my eyes were getting too tired :) (excuses excuses)
i was looking into getting some upper keys, they are quite odd, not really sure what they're all about, but they look cool, good luck with them

Simon
01-30-03, 10:46 PM
Matt,
yeah the upper keys are acutally quite odd. And I was talking with Don Solderberg and we were talking if these snakes really should be classified as real corn snakes and stuff....

I am going to look for more information on these snakes before I will introduce any corn snake genes into them just in case they will be classified as another sub species of corns or something like that...

but Matt...those were not good excuses.....there were lights (even though not too bright...) and I gave you good directions....lol

hum....I wonder who's the bad in finding roads.....you or me? (Tell you the truth...I am really bad in finding or remembering roads...lol)

Cas

Let's see...

0.1 amel (Cliché)
1.0 anery A (Query)
0.1 snow (Iris)
1.1 hypos (Aubade and Dysis)
0.1 charcoal (Nocturne)
1.2 butters (Lorelei, unnamed 1, and unnamed 2)
1.1 lavenders (Lailoken and Liadan {Lee-a-den})
1.0 blizzard (unnamed)

and 0.1 black pine snake (Salem)

(and RIP 1.0 charcoal Nimbus)

Mary, odds are I won't be breeding the butter this year... I haven't weighed her recently, but I doubt she's put on much weight. Lorelei's the fussiest and most high strung of all my corns - slow digestion and has a tendancy to regurge if she's disturbed... and she's easily disturbed. So I've been concentrating on just keeping food in her rather than really beefing her up this winter (She has gained better overall body tone then she had when I got her though). IF she makes it over 250g, then I may introduce her to Query and see if the sparks fly... but I wouldn't count on it.
In any case, I can't be entirely sure Lorelei even is a butter... that's what I bought her as, but I've since seen pics of both creamsicles and butters that look like her, and you know how it goes with buying at shows from people you don't know. I won't really know for sure until my male butter is old enough to test breed her (~ 2 years from now). Which means, if she goes this year or next year, I'll be selling any offspring with that disclaimer, and priced as though they were "het cream" rather than het butter.

Matt, question. I know there are a million cornsnake morphs, and I can't even keep up with them. And now, there's a root beer morph?! Post a pic, I want to see what they look like. Are they endorsed by A&W or Mug by any chance? :p

I've got just the basics lite:

1.0 normal
0.1 snow

But there's plenty of time to add some beauties.

Matt
01-31-03, 08:46 AM
bry, rootbeer, technically is a hybrid between a corn snake and and emory rat snake. This makes it brownish with a greyish ground colour.

The interesting thing is that when you mix the amelanistic genes in (homozygous), you get creamsicle corn snakes
...so basically rootbeer are the "normal" or non amelanistic form of the creamsicle

with all that said, here is a pic of the rootbeer, he looks a little differnt in person!

Wazzat??? :)
I'm new to corns (actually snakes in general). This is the first time I've heard of that morph. Would you have a picture?

Since I'm still getting the hang of snakes, i've only got 2 corns right now - 1 amel motley and one volcano.

After the May show I should be able to say 1.1 variable kings as well

:)

Simon

BeHeMoTh ,

Favorite.....well I would think that it's going to be candy canes. I just love those candy canes so much. Especially Kathy's high white candy canes....drool..........

But other than the candy canes I love all of them....just go to love corns~

Dragon Drop,
The cubed motley is just like motley that you normally see. The only difference that you'll see is that their patterns are shaped in Cubes instead of what most people see....circles or huricanes.

Hope this help~
