View Full Version : Any non-toxic clay/puddy?

Hello all, So I have a 22"-24" Mexican Black Kingsnake. Recently he has been hiding inside a hollow part of a piece of decor. He is not stuck and when I check on him he is in different positions. But he is hold up in there and I cannot get him out without hurting him. It is feeding day but he would not respond to food. Does anybody know a non-toxic clay/puddy/gelatine that I could use to plug up the hollow part? The area doesn't look big but it is larger than you think. He has been up there since Saturday the 9th, and I haven't seen him out since. He hides in the very top limb of it. Any input would be GREATLY appreciated as this insanely FRUSTRATING.

sculpty is nontoxic, also any clay you can dig up in your yard. Also why do you want to force him out? He is in there because he feels secure, have you offered him any other hides? Dont ever force a snake out of a hide, if you dislike him sticking himself up in there then wait till he leaves on his own accord and then replace the hide with something you can lift if you really want instant access.

Is this inside a vivarium or has he/she escaped ?

This is inside the vivarium. It is a piece of decor, I tried showing a link of it, petsmart sells it. But I guess I cannot share links since I am too new?

He does have other hides, he has a half log cut out which is over the under tank heater. And another hide on the opposite side. It is annoying because one time he was up in this same spot for 3 days straight past feeding time. My friend who has more experience with snakes gently removed him before with a curved hook shaped piece of plastic. He has been up there for 4 days straight now, going on 5. I cant feed him, I cant take him out to handle him. Its just a tad annoying. Its not very warm right now in southern California and I know the spot he is is not the recommended temperature so it also raises health concern.

As long as he can't hurt himself or get lodged in there I wouldn't worry about it
