so my mate found a add for a free red tail to a good home i was not the most thrilled but i said we can go look at least. SO we went and looked at her she is about 5'7 and i think it was 6 or 4 years will have to get that from him.
so here is Boo are new family member. also because of how she was raised she is not use to being handled, she hates being picked up but once you get her up she settles down just when you touch her she shies away for a moment before letting you continue.

I have a female that doesn't like being lifted. She sits fine with us on the couch but squeezes like mad if you raise her off the ground. I doubt it will ever go away. My girl is almost 7' and 4.5 years old so I would guess her closer to 4 than 6.

ya i noticed red tails dont like being lifted much even kaa and nef get twitchy but its what ever, and i was guessing at her length sense have not had a chance to measure her yet but she is smaller then nef who is 5'10.she may look bigger sense i am tiny person idk will get a measurement this week end.
and thank you ms mudusa i like her after holding her for a little she calmed down enough to explore on us and seems like she will settle down to be a nice girl. only bit her owner once and thats while the previous owner was doing something in the cage.

Really nice common boa. Looks like she's got some good size. I think the not liking being held thing depends on the individual snake. My big female Scoobz is super chill, shell let you pick her up, hold her, maneuver her however. But my pastel seems to hate it. Almost as if they seem insecure and unsupported at all times.

true like any animal it really comes down to a animal by animal basis, good size and has a 55gallon tank to herself thing was hell to get to the house.

I'd give her a lot bigger than a 55 gallon tank. Also proper humidity and heat is hard to maintain in tanks. I do it but I keep the whole room humid and hot

well for the fact that we just got her this Sunday i am not going to stress her by throwing her into a new tank. and the room she is in is hot and humid plus she has a custom lid.
Also she will be coming out often once she has settled in.

I would try to get her a larger viv right away. The stress of change will be gone after a couple nights of exploring. Fake plants help a lot.

it really comes down to we are going to have to build her a new tank and that is going to take time tell that is done then she is stuck in that tank, but we do have plans on letting her out daily to explore at least so its not like she wont be getting exercise.

you can buy a cheap easy fix tank at boamaster.com for $140 a big 4x3 tank at that. melamine is temporary will last a few yrs tho if you not breeding in it and such. much better than any "built" tank.
I prefer pvc..and I prefer racks over pvc stackable cages but we all get in spots where money is tight..melamine is easy on the pockets.

um i looked at that place i can build something better then those ^^ up side to having a carpenter daddy in the house i learned how to build things. but does sound less expensive then buying the stuff i would need....hmm. either way right now i am choosing not to move her i think she has had enough stress for a little while. On the upside of life she seems to like being out and is calming down when we handle her.

well just make sure you seal the wood. I snakes don't like to be handled they simply tolerate it. If for some reason you think shes stressed you should leave her alone

i watch her breathing and how she acts and honestly i think she likes being out going on how she acts when i take her out and then put her back.

i have sugar gliders please please please make sure she does alot of HW on them they are not a easy pet and need daily working with and can take up to a year to bond with you. If you want you can message me and i can pass on what i have learned and how mine act and the information on them the breeder that i got them from gave me. YES i trust this breeder i work with her she is certified to breed sugars.
BUT boo is doing gave her a bath recently she seemed to like that one swam around a bit hard to say with snakes though sense they dont have expressions but going on body language. she is about six feet got her to stretch out on the matress and she ran its length and its around 6ft. she is in a 100gallon tank in a room that never drops bellow 70. and is warming up to us handling her she nipped me other day but that was my fault and has struck a few times at my mate but over all she is doing good has yet to eat though trying again either later this week or next week sense next week will be going on three weeks from her last feeding.
