I have almost had my female veiled chameleon for about a month and a half now, and I thought I should get on and let You guys know how she's doing. I finally have a name for her, however it's not very appropriate for all ages so viewer discursion. Her name is lil' "female dog" :P...Anyways, whoever said chameleons are not the easiest pet was right! Nothing has gone terribly wrong yet, but I have had a few bumps in the road. The first major thing was a escape within the first week. The top part I added to the tank she's in had a bar with a gap bigger than the others. I didn't think she would fit, but she did. I have the top off for now until she gets a little larger. After that the monsoon rainfall systems timer started acting up and to much water was spraying. water was being sprayed faster than it could evaporate. She is in a 15 gallon tall tank, temporarily, and the water was building up so there was an inch or two at the bottom every day or two. I took off the rain system and now we're hand spraying her tank 3 about 3 times a day. After this the humidity was to low, because she had all fake plants and that's it. I've added a small spider plant, a small thing of ivy "silver bells", and a medium bromeliad. I caught her eating little chunks of dirt so I put sphagnum moss over it and that seemed to help. Also, while all this was happening for some reason the crickets all died. I believe it was because of low ventilation so I made a screen top for there bin. Anyways, everything seems to be fine now (nock on wood). She has a humidity of about 50-70% (higher right after sprayed and let dry out to about 20-30% an hr. or 2 before next spray). She is eating well (about 10-15 1/2" crickets a day). She seems fairly happy most of the time. The only thing is she's been in she'd for about 1 1/2-2 weeks now, but I'm hoping the moss and plants I added will help with the raised humidity to help the shed. I'll post pics later... Thanks everyone :)
