Hello everyone, I just joined today, my name's Kayleigh, and I am a longtime fan of all sorts of reptiles, my dad and I were always huge snake lovers, even going as far as to go into the backyard to see if we could find any snakes hiding in the tall grass/plants that grew there, it is because of my wonderful father that I am the huge reptile fan I am today, I hope one day to own my own snake

my cats tear things up, and since they attack things such as lady bugs right on sight, and are prone to knock things over, we feel it's not the best environment for a snake

well preferably I'd like my own ball python, not sure if I'd want a normal one or one with maybe a piebald or pastel, both are beautiful colors for the ball python, not sure if I could get an albino easily, I figure the other two colors would be the easiest to get

Kane is a normal, an African import.

I will badger Alessia to show off hers, it's really pretty.

Welcome aboard! I think its pretty cool that you joined. I know your pa is stoked!

As for royal python morphs you should be able to find a pastel no problem and it will be pretty cheap too.

I think an albino would be second on the scale. They are an abundant morph ( though some get ugly pretty quick) and will be more expensive than a pastel but cheaper than a piebald.

Piebalds are easy enough to find but are usually $500 plus....... I think. I haven't been following the American herp prices the last six months

Nope. You'll find albinos at every reptile expo, and most breeders have them too. Some albinos fade out as they grow. Mine has luckily retained most of his white/yellow contrast. I'll try to get an updated photo this weekend. :)

thank you all again for the warm welcomes, I happen to be at a very...difficult decision I've found two morphs for a future ball python I want to get, but I can't pick between them, I want either a Lavender albino or a desert ghost, I can't figure out which one I should get

Mark Taylor
02-09-13, 11:17 AM
That is a tough one, I think I would go for the desert ghost.

LOL tell them you met a kid on the web who has a sinaloan milksnake, a ball python, two leopard geckos, a mali uromastyx, a crested gecko, a western hognose snake, a tiger salamander, a tarantula, a scorpion, two rats, and a bird, going to pick up more tomorrow :D sure they will get a kick out of that LOL

hahaha, it's more because of our cats, they're too afraid the snakes would either try to hurt the cats or the cats will knock the snake homes over and cause them to get loose in the house

Hurrok
02-10-13, 11:41 AM
Yeah its probably more important to keep in mind the safety of both the snake and the cats. But once you move out I'm sure it will be better for you anyways, as you can get whatever you want! :)

HAH! that's a good idea, just set his habitat by the door and then see if the burglar is dumb enough to try to look into there and get a huge hiss at xD

Desert ghost tend to have a price tag of $2,500 or so. Lavenders I find to be cheaper. If you like the look of the lavs I'd also check out the Toffee or the Toffinos. They are both types of albinos.

If you want something that really is striking when you open the cage I'd go for an albino. Nothing beats a yellow/white snake or in the case of lavenders/toffee/toffino a purple/yellow snake.

The females also have physical issues connected to the desert gene.

that is a negative from what I know. Desert ghost has NOTHING to do with the desert gene. It's a separate ghost gene. Poorly named though lol.

Yeah it's a completely separate mutation. Like I said though with a horrible name so I can see the confusion.

I thought it was what you thought until I looked into a bit further.
