They can be. I've seen more aggressive than calm ones.

What Aaron said. Pretty much any species of snake is like that. I've had docile white-lippeds and snappy ones, same with boas, carpets, balls, retics, and venomous.
I think it all depends on the individual snake....basically what everyone else said. If you have the chance try and hold a few and see which one you like handling the most, usually you can tell that way. I do that with buying ball pythons :)

I will mention that this species is generally known to be more snappy though, from my experiences.

thanks guys. that is the gist of what i have read. kinda sounds like the set up would basicly be the same/simular as a carpet. semi abrorial, 95ish hot spot, 88-90 hot side, 82ish cold side, and a fairly higher humidity. I really wouldnt mind picking one of these up since they are right below my price range. lets see what i see this weekend at the reptile show. its a toss up between a WLP and a Sunglow bci.

I have a captive bred pair who are quite laid back. I believe wild caught are a lot more snappy. TBH they are a more sensitive snake than carpets and can't be dealt with the same way. They are a lot more secretive than carpets and afor so have a heat variations than carpet and much less tolerance for heat variation than them. Rewarding snakes to keep but not low maintenance!

I think i am going to look into a bci for my next. i really want a wlp but right now it would be too hard to keep.

With WLP either they are mellow or not. So if you get one be sure it's mellow. Mine is more of a show snake than a pet. I have found that if i only use hooks to handle he find. If i try picking him up with my hands he freaks. Now he will come up the hook on to my arm and be find, but if i move my arm i get a close mouth strike or head butt. Mine when he strike it is always close mouth. So he likes to bluff, but as no problem pissing on you.
