Looking for insight.....

We have had our little girl Klepto for roughly 2 months she is a Tesserra about 18-20'' in length and roughly 24-25grams, I have been reading about the Munson feeding plan and as it suggested we upped her to two pinkies every 7 days. As when before when we were only feeding one pinky we hardly saw a noticeable bump, and even though we have increased to two pinkies we still are not seeing a noticeable bump. But yet I do not believe she is the right size for fuzzies just yet, she's not very thick. We fed her last week 2 pinkies and she hadn't passed :hmm:. But as to what I have read sometimes this happens, so we offered her two pinkies again this Saturday, both of which she ate voraciously. And though it has only been 3 days she still has not passed. I am a bit concerned... there are no visible bumps, lumps, or swelling. Her tank is a standard 10g with hot side temps at 80-83F cool side ranging from 70-75F, humidity stays right at 50-60%. She has a hide on each side, along with her water dish. Though she is rarely in either hide, she is a very active snake. I am wondering if there is anything I need to change or anything I need to do in order to help her. I have been advised that this is normal behavior and to continue to feed as scheduled. (From a reputable corn snake breeder for 20+years) I am just concerned and looking for any insight as to how I can better our snakes life.

Everything sounds fine to me.. Keep up with the Munson feeding plan it is a good one to use. My corn has held in his poo for a few weeks at a time before. Nothing to odd it happens.

What sort of substrate are you using? If it is wood of any sort, she may be eliminating in her burrows. Mine tends to do that. As long as she's eating, you should be fine :)

We are using Coco-Husk as substrate, we suspected she might be hiding it. But we cleaned and sifted her substrate and found nothing.... :(

To be honest when snakes eat punkies they pretty much digest every part of it, once they start on prey with fur then there is mire "waste" :)

How big are the pinkies in comparison to the snake? I feed my corns prey that is roughly twice their own girth :)

pinkies,rat pups,fuzzies,do not have much in them,your snake will absorb just about all the non furry prey items,leaving next to nothing to poop out

it sounds like you need to up your prey size,if 2 pinkies are leaving next to no feeding bulge

Thanks Lankyrob, the size of the pinkies were just slightly bigger or close to the same size as her girth. I was advised to only stay the size of her girth until she reaches the weight at which to graduate to fuzzies.....

Thanks Shaun! I am going to look into graduating her to fuzzies... I am just concerned they are to big for her. She's not all that thick....

I got my two bany corns after they had eaten three times, since that time they have always eaten prey twice their girth. Occassionaly if one refused a meal then the other would eat two prey twice their girth. I fed everey seven days for the first year then on a rolling 14/21 day schedule. No issues at all :)

the way i guage if they are ready to go up a prey size,is...

i feed them 2 of their present prey size for 4 feeds in a row,if they take them everytime,then i up their feeding to the next size of prey

I may just try that Shaun, this past Saturday was he second feeding on 2 pinkies. So perhaps with 2 more feedings on double pinks she maybe ready for fuzzies! Thank you all for your input!
