I'm going to compete in Tough Mudder - Probably the Toughest Event on the Planet (http://toughmudder.com/) in Mesa, Arizona at the end of February, and was wondering if there's any chance of finding any snakes out there at that time of the year. Provided i'm able to walk. Has anyone from there seen any snakes out at that time?

I live in Flagstaff, AZ. The entire town is covered in snow all day every day at this time of the year. I'm not sure about mesa.

If it's an unusually warm day you may find some but usually at that time of year no. But you never know have a look around.

Down south by Sierra vista/Huachuca, there are some mountains nearby that's prime herping potential if you walk the creek beds.

I got lucky to find a gorgeous Sonoran Mountain King Snake, took some pics then put him/her back in the rocks where I found him/her :P

I'd be careful if you did herp around, I believe there is a type of coral snake around here as well.
