Rest in peace athena- you were so beloved by all in this house. Jerry Rice will miss you too. We are sad to see you go but I hope if there is a god he lets you into heaven instead of me. Slither peacefully, whole again. Maybe I will see you when gabriel sounds his trumpet and I go home as well.
this is the image i saw of you when your owner was looking for you a new home:

From this I fell in love. I promised to take care of you till the day you moved on. I fulfilled that promise but feel as though I let you down. I am sorry athena.

Thank you. Id like to think a lot of people would at least give it their all and not give up on them. If the snake still fights you should too

It was a lot of work and money but I wouldnt have felt as right if I wouldnt have tried that hard. She deserved a good life and I was determined to give it to her.
So sorry to hear of your loss :(
Thank you

No, its the hardest thing ever. I have decided to have her cremated. Some of her ashes will be placed in a necklace I am having made so she can always be with me. This animal was special and if there is a god he gave her to me to show love goes to every creature, warm blooded or not. And snakes may not love but I believe she cared for me. She would lay her head in my hand or lap in her final days and seek comfort. I am hopeful I was able to provide it for her.
this makes me so sad...You did way more than the average person. Rest easy, little one.

I found her with her mouth open and it had some repti bark in it- i cleaned it out and fixed her mouth and she looked like she always did. I gave her a little bath and wrapped her up and held her a while. Its the saddest thing ever, so limp and lifeless. I called around and decided to have her cremated rather than mounted. So until next week I needed to freeze her. I wrapped her in a blanket then a few bags. It feels so wrong and disrespectful but idk what else to do until wednesday :C

There is nothing disrespectful in how you are treating her. Wrapping her in a blanket is something that doesn't even happen in human mortuaries.

as silly as it sounds it just seemed like bags were disrespectful so i thought a blanket would lesson that. I hope when she is cremated she is taken with the blanket and removed from the bags. I got that blanket for her when she got sick and couldnt have substrate. Its a cloth blanket I put on the bottom of her cage on the hot end so she could be comfortable. Its stupid I know but it seemed to help her when she was in pain, it kept it soft when she couldnt correct her balance, at least it kept her side from having to lay on the hard floor.
so sorry, my deepest condolences.

thanks wayne. I am currently looking at this boa a local shop has, everyone ignores her because shes blind and no one wants a blind snake. I may take her so i can grieve through her. I want to give another snake a chance. I am hoping it may help ease the pain because right now I randomly cry and just feel like an absolute idiot
Poor thing, god bless Athena. I don't know the details but I am very sorry for your loss.
You seem like a nice person Dino and I'm sure you did all you could. It is really hard to lose any creature you have such a connection with. It pains the heart, deep within us... I know the feeling all too well.
I have a wolf necklace made from the fur of the wolf pack I used to work with. So the necklace idea I can totally relate to...
Bless you both.

It never gets easier.. So sorry for your loss, you went above and beyond what most would have.
this saddens meT.T i was so hoping of her recover, BUT i agree you did more the most humans ever would for a pet and i personally think you are a very good person and that you treat your critters so well. I hope if you do get the other one you find what you are looking for i know sometimes that form of grieving helps beyond any other.

I'd rethink getting a special needs snake, if you ever want to breed when he or she gets older with that snake you have a connection to you want something with no problems.

One day you will "get it"
I know several people with blind snakes, kinked spine snakes, etc.
It's not about breeding, it's about caring.
I had a snake for years I named "twisty" because her spine had a 180 degree kink in it, when she crawled around the first half of her looked just fine, but the second half was upside down (hence "twisty")
She functioned just fine for almost 4 years before she died.
That was 4 years longer than she would had the breeder culled her.
I also have a snake that was born with only one eye and several runts that will never get big.
They don't seem to mind being misfits.

Not everyone wants to breed. I for one will never breed snakes and I would happily rescue a blind or kinked snake. You don't seem to understand basic human compassion.... I have read that in a few of your post.

Not everyone keeps animals just for the profit they can make, keeping pets is about love and connection with that animal :no::no:

But when I got into boas i didnt get into them for money, I got into them because jerry rice made me burn with passion. They are fascinating animals with wonderful personalities and even more spunk. They are pets and friends before they are anything else. To treat them any less just seems sad. I would rescue ALL the boas if I could, my home would be boa ark if my husband would allow it.
I have problems I am half allergic to anything decent and fully allergic to anything good, ive also got arthritis and am color blind all before I turned 21. I fit in with misfits, its what ive been all my life.

the whole point of pets is to- well, treat them as pets. its not a hard concept o__________o

I do want to breed in the future but only snakes that can handle it- and not for the money but because I want to see their pretty kids.

thanks. A woman actually contacted me on fauna because I placed an add up (http://www.faunaclassifieds.com/forums/showthread.php?t=377351)for a snake, she has a slight kink but otherwise is a great snake, she looks similar to my athena- i may take her. I want to give her a home where breeding isnt expected of her and she can just be my classy lady.
