She looks real small to me on pictures compared to how big she looks in person lol.
She hasn't been fed on much for the last year neither as the last owner only maintenance fed her. Soon change that though :D lol

Lol. Yes she certainley does. I have a 15-16 foot normal retic as well that I can quite easily handle on my own but this girl is something else. Her weight is unreal and she destroys most of the house knocking everything over lol.

Lol.
She can have her own bedroom but she prefers an 8ft x 4ft viv and feels more safe. She likes to come out but after a while is always eager to get back inti her house lol.

I've only seen a few full grown retics on here, awesome snake.

Keep us updated on her!

Is this still the case today aswell?
I remember all tiger retics getting extremely big but most now dont get much past 16 foot since other people have bred them.
I'll measure her monthly and keep you updated :)

That was from a conversation I had a few months ago, so I'd assume it's current.
For a bit of fun would anyone like to guess her size?
She's only just shed and I'll feed her this week, but after that I'll get her out and measure her.
We can see who was closest lol. :)

I only know of two other female adult platinum retics and their quite big as well, not as big as this girl though lol.

She is a beauty. I hear that dwarf male retics max out at around 8ft. But are they agressive? I love the pattern on them

Wow, what do you feed him? :) it looks like the one we saw in Bohol, Philippines but then that was only a normal morph. It was big enough to eat small pigs

01-23-13, 07:57 PM
Awesome.
I also am curious as to what they would eat at that size and what it would cost.
I'm interested in a Burm - I know it ain't no retic though.

Never kept the dwarf species but as mainland males average 13-15ft (15 being big) then 8 foot sounds about right to me. Dont know about the temp, i guess it depends on personality of the snake as well.
She's failry exnensive to feed as she only eats guinea pigs.
If she ate giant rabbits she would only cost about £10-£20 a month (not sure what this is in $?) but with the guinea pigs it probably on average costs me £50-£70 a month as their in short supply and quite expensive to buy, also she eats quite a lot lol.

That is a bit pricey.. £70 is $110 or close to it

Ever thought of breeding your own guinea pigs and rabbits. I do for pets I have around 50 rabbits a yr that I sell and it costs about £10 a month but then I love me rabbits.

That is a huge retic!! Have you had a chance to measure her yet or was 18' 8" right?
How long have you had her? Have you tried scenting the guinea pigs with rabbits yet? That's a lot of money your spending to feed her on guinea pigs
I spend $10 per guinea pig here....have you told the owner it's a feeder? Mine sells them to me for the price of an XXL jumbo rat =3

Shes getting measured early next week. I think shes around 18.5-19.5 foot but not too sure yet
I'm going to try her with rabbits again as yes she does cost a lot to feed lol

Is $10 about £6? If so thats expensive. Its not so much the price other here but the availability. Plus when she can eat 15-20 in one go at times its difficult to keep up lol.

She's a terrible feeder unfortunately.
She isn't hungry that often nor will she take big prey like rabbits.
She only eats guinea pigs and I'm currently trying to trick her to take rabbits.

Beautiful snake, but at this point I think she would be better off in her own snake proof room. An 8x4 viv is a little tight for her, lol!!!!! 15-20 pigs at a time?????? I would be looking for a supply of pigs if I were you. But I live in the country and have a assortment of livestock suppliers to pull from if needed. Thanks for posting the pics!!!

Dunno where you're getting your info from but an 8x4 is plenty big enough for even the largest pythons. That's 24 sq ft of floor space! A room is totally overkill unless you want to donate a room to a snake.

Wow, if I had one that big I probably would just give it a spare bedroom. Pull up the carpet, lay down linoleum over top of radiant floor heat in one corner, use some large dog houses for hides and a horse trough for water, and it would be all set.
I couldn't imagine trying to maintain something that large on just guinea pigs though.

You might be surprised how easy it can be when done right.
Wait, I did my math wrong, an 8x4 is 32 sq ft of floor space, that's cavernous! An 8x3 or 6x4 is plenty.
Pigs dude pigs.
Monster feeders has an awesome selection of pigs. 2.50/lb for anything over 5 lbs and Matt's quality is top notch.
Yea the giants fit into an 8 x4ft very easily.
She wouldnt know what a pig is lol.
Guines pigs arent the same as pigs.
the good news is I've managed to convert her to take rabbits.
She took 7 yesterday.

Lemon, don't suppose you can get goats easily over there can you? My 12ft female just took a 3 day old goat that didn't make it.
Lemon, don't suppose you can get goats easily over there can you? My 12ft female just took a 3 day old goat that didn't make it.
Never sourced any goats myself.
The problem with this girl is she's not use to eating large prey. Her head is longer but less wide then my 16.5ft retic. I think it's due to her never feeding on large prey and this has resulted in a thinner head. She managed to eat the medium sized rabbit but I don't think at the moment she could manage anything bigger. Hopefully over time I'll be able to increase the prey size she will take.

Such a beauty. She seems like she's really in shape. How often does she work out? Gym, CrossFit, P90x? All of the above?
Seriously though, awesome seeing a large, healthy retic.
