its good to see them available Chuck, but the price is horriofic (as expected)
i know Terry Philps of the reptile gardens in the USA,produced a clutch a couple of years ago, once that clutch is up to size,Roughie prices should plummet,as they breed really easy and have a good sized clutch
there are 2 or 3 legal pairs in europe, once they produce and start selling,i have a feeling some of the illegal roughies will hit the market, driving the price down
they were realitively rare in Australia not so long ago,but because they breed so easily, they are down to a few hundred Australian dollars each now mate
i would love roughies, but not at inflated prices

I know, right? lol I absolutely love his collection!
Those roughies are gorgeous! Too expensive for me though. If/when the prices go down I may get one.

I brought a few of those in from Eu a couple of yeas back. Sold them so fast I didnt even have a chance to put up an ad. In my opinion, they are not very good looking to be honest. They are very drab. People just want them because they are rare in collections. Or at least they seem to be. I know there are a lot more of them around than people think. Hold out on buying them now. The prices will drop so fast They are easier to breed than carpets. To be honest though, that is not a bad price. Figure, you are getting each one for a little over a thousand each.

i agree Gregg...
imo give it a couple of years Chuck and the roughies, will be a quarter of present day prices
like in the USA,there are more roughies in Europe than folk would think, once the legal roughies produce hatchlings for the market, then all those illegally held roughie hatchy's will come flooding out, dramatically reducing the price imo
Gregg do you know,if has anyone tried crossing roughies with a carpet mate ?
i know it's still early days, but who knows what their genetics will bring to the table regards crosses
imo Bredl bring out some the most unexpected beautiful results, when mixed with Carpet blood

Mines coming in about a month... deals are done. Love trades and swapsies.
Roughies are a python you keep not for the money but for well... keeping a roughie and I agree they really are not much to look at, they are a very special python though being the only one on the planet with keeled scales. They are down to $300 here now starting from 18K a pair just 8 years ago.
Chondros are the same I reckon... how interesting can a all green snake be that just curls up on a branch, but you can never say that to a chondro enthusiaist lol.

Don't they have those huge luminous eyes too? If they become affordable, I want one.

I'll get pics up mate when I get him... It was a flip of a coin between an albino carpet or a roughie as a display specimen.
