View Full Version : Is my gtp going into shed?
So I was up all night cause I napped during the day. And I checked on the gtp and everything looked good. Around 5 or 6 this morning I go look again and its looking really wrinkly. And the skin looks different(i dont know how else to explain it.) I googled it and some things i found were a)its shedding or b) it may be dehydrated. There is a water bowl in the enclosure and aside from the humidifier/fogger thing I also manually spray the gtp along with the enclosure and have witnessed the gtp drinking off the things in the enclosure. Reason why I am asking is cause all the research I've done says gtps show different signs for shedding. As I can tell when my boas or carpet are shedding.
Probably just a shed...is he due for one?

I don't know got iton the 6th and didnt think to ask for last shed. It did eat on sunday though.
I wouldn't worry about it. Make sure his humidity is good, maybe even bump up a little and give him a few days.

I'd check your temps also, make sure the hot spot is at least 90, a few degrees higher usually doesnt hurt either. If they are shedding it helps them shed easier if the temps are correct.

Sounds like shedding, we find it almost impossible to tell when our GTP is going into shed mode too, what humidity do you keep him at? We have found it best to get it up to 90% or so and then "dry" back to 60-65% before spraying again :)

The same, i've read that the dry out period is needed. Im pretty sure its time to shed as well.
