Hello there,

Is Panacur that is 10% Fenbendazole the proper choice for treating snakes, and what resource would I use to find proper dosage?

I have had it recommended to me by an experienced local breeder. They use a tiny amount- they said they dip a toothpick in it and then wipe it inside a feeder's mouth for most colubrids. They didn't mention a boid dose.

Fenbendazole

Concentration = 100mg/ml

Dose = 50mg/kg

1lb/454gm = 0.23ml

2lb/907gm = 0.45ml

3lb/1.3kg = 0.65ml

4lb/1.8kg = 0.90ml

5lb/2.3kg = 1.14ml

7lb/3.18kg = 1.59ml

9lb/4kg = 2.05ml

10lb/4.5kg = 2.27ml

15lb/6.8kg = 3.40ml

20lb/9kg = 4.54ml

25lb/11.3kg = 5.68ml

50lb/22.7kg = 11.36ml

100lb/45.3kg = 22.73ml

Dosage Interval = Give once and repeat in two weeks and four weeks

Route of Administration = Orally

Some deworming requires 100mg/kg, and if you're dosing without knowing the parasite i'd go for that dose.

"It is sold in a tube as a paste. There are 25grams of paste in the tube, 100mg/g. To make it into a 200mg/mL solution, add 12.5mL of unflavored clear Pedialyte to the paste and dissolve it thoroughly. The dosage to give the snake is 50-100mg/kg"

So I went with that.:hmm: But I know what you mean about Melissa Kaplan....
