Just got another question....

When im handeling my girl carpet 5+ foot she kinda wheeze or hiss when she is breathing its not that defensive hiss that no on can mistake - its more like when she taking her breath and because shes relatively big and hanging on my arm the weight is doing it...

Is that normal...??

A female coastal that size I would guess at 2-3 yrs depending on how it was fed. My female jcp "talks" all the time during handling or sometimes if she is climbing. No worries as long as you are sure it's not a RI.

you would really need to take a picture of your Coastal, with someting like a sky tv remote in the picture, this will give us something to guage its size from...

then give you an educated/informed opinion of its age

re your girl carpet
ive heard a lot of jungles that will defensively hiss/puff at you,if you look where her lung is situated, that part of the body usually is going in and out fast, like your own chest after running.imo its just a nervous defensive action

if its not defensive then 2 things come to mind...

1.she could be coming up to a shed,or if she has recently shed, then it could be a piece of old shed stuck up a nostril

2.its early signs of an upper resparitory infection...

if there is no excess mucas or bubbles coming out the nostril...

then put your hot end temperature up by 5 degrees F,leave the temps up for 2 to 4 weeks, and that should be enough time, for the snake to get back to full health..

rasing the hot end temps aid the snakes immune system

cheers shaun

I was thinking 2 -3 years myself and good to know that about your JCP "talking" that could might be it....

Ill upload a pic with something to judge her size by...
And it dosent appear to be defensive but again i just got her 3 weeks ago and i dont know how much shes been handled so i couldent say - it doesnt sound like a warning hiss though...

She dosent show signs of RI so i dont think it is that either but ill keep a close eye on her and maybe raise the temperature....

About sheding then well the guy in the pet store didnt know much so i dont know when she shed last so it could be that ... or maybe she just "talks" like Terranaut says...

ty for replies guys....

Don't take what I said as a sure thing. Just a guess from what you have said. Like Shaunyboy said a pic would help make this a much more accurate guess.
