I'm interested in them.

I've always been a fan of the attitude and look of Vipers, but I would never own a Hot.

I'm having trouble finding any reputable sellers of these amazing animals, does anyone have a suggestion?

QUICK NOTE : Yes, I know they are aggressive, that's one of the reasons why they intrigue me.

My first thought would be to check Ben Siegel reptiles. I know he does a lot of importing of random stuff.

I have a job, and currently own three snakes.

I don't pay bills, I don't even have to buy toilet paper.

My next paycheck is estimated at $550 and all of that is leisure moolah.

I will be purchasing a rack, 2 new VE thermostats, and some more snakes.

Next year I plan on my first breeding project. :)

I never said you had to pay bills or for toilet paper. Snakes get bigger which means bigger prey which means more $$$. It adds up if you're trying to build a collection. And I didn't know people still hire under 18, in California it'd be hard to get a job that young unless it's a mom and pop store.

Here are some cheap viper boas but they're not captive bred. Backwater also has some and from reading online there aren't many captives available.

Didn't know they were so hard to find. The local reptile store here orders them if asked. Sells them for 150-200. Really cool snakes, wanted one for long still never got the chance to get one.

Also I owned 8 herps at 15 and was able to provide fine for them. It all depends on your situation, your parents, and your location.

Yeah no one really captive breeds them. I do not know how difficult it can be. They are small, swampy snakes. I used to want some to breed. It's probably one of my highest pet projects for the next few years.

They are basically guaranteed an aggressive nature so many hobbyist tend to steer away from them. :hmm:

Amazon tree boas, emerald tree boas, green tree pythons, yellow anacondas and many other snakes are all bred that have crap attitudes. I'd assume that the husbandry for them isn't 100% yet or they don't survive long after capture.

WC Viper boas can be challenging. They are hard to get to feed and yes they can be a little aggressive. They would sit perfectly still, statue like and then fly at you...like really fly at you...out of the enclosure. Crazy little things. But they are really cool looking animals and if you can get them feeding regularly would make pretty rewarding pets. I think there could be a CBB market for them. I would love to keep them again but would really hesitate to get WC. I do know people who have been pretty successful with them though.

Yeah, true. But many keep those listed as display snakes due to their vibrant and exotic coloring, therefore they aren't usually too intent on the handling aspect.

The viper boa isn't much of a showcase snake, more for personal gain.

Then again, you could be right.

Or maybe they just aren't popular. Ball pythons weren't too popular whatsoever until morphs started to emerge.

Could be down the line. Just because it becomes CBB doesn't mean you can ask an arm and leg for the animal. Nor does it mean the demand would be there. You'd have to do it purely for the love of it. I saw them 10 years ago, and just really liked them.

As stated, they are nuts. They fly. I'd get some but I just don't have the room currently.

They appear to have color phases so I'm sure you could produce a beautiful animal.

If you dig deep enough you can find forums with people that breed these guys, I forgot which forum I saw them on though. As stated earlier, they tend to be more on the defensive side and hide a lot. And they are usually wc and can be a pain to establish. I was also looking into these guys awhile back. Very cool snakes. My advice would be to be patient and very picky about which one you get. Getting a wc snake online is always a huge gamble since you can't see the snake first.
