Just cleaned my viv for my small boa bleached everything and rinsed several times now, but I can still smell it so wont be putting her back in just yet.
My grandma used lemons to neutralizing smells/odours in the fridge do you think it might work in the viv?
Can't put it out side as its to big for me to lift on my own and its raining
What do you do?

If there are no other animals in the room I would get a small heater and cook the smell out. Place the heater in front of the opening of the viv and leave it on for a few hours.

The closest thing I have to a heater is my radiator lol.
I hate bleach!!!

Then why use bleach? Just buy some F10 disinfectant..

Next time skip the bleach and use vinegar...

Lemon juice diluted will work to remove the odor.

disinfectant???
why???
I clean my glass with vinegar windex, I rinse out my tanks with hot water.
Afraid of germs? dawn dish washing liquid and a sponge.
You are aware that in nature these animals crawl though guano and eat dead things right??

I'm very aware of this Wayne, however when they do a massive crap in the water bowl and smear it all over the edges I like to make sure it's properly clean before I refill.. With drinking water I personally err on the side of caution.
And of course there's the odd time they get nasty at feeding time and rip open a rat, makes a terrible mess and obviously in the wild they'd eat then slither off to somewhere warm to digest... I've put them in a box and force them to stay next to or in this bacteria.. Don't know if it would effect them but... better safe than sorry IMO. :)
Edit to add that I do not use disinfectant every time... Just when there's a real mess, or crap in water bowl :)

I'm sorry Jay, I was not even pointing at you, everyone seems so paranoid about germs.
Dr. Kirshner did an expedition for a special shown on TV once, and they waded through guano up to their waists to get to the pythons living in the cave.
The immunities in reptiles are so bulletproof that scientists have been trying to decode it for use in human medecine.
Personally, I'm more afraid of chlorine fumes from bleach than I am germs.

It's fine, there was no offence taken mate, I was just explaining my views on it and what I do.. I stay away from bleach and just wipe everything down with warm water unless there's a real mess. Then I use F10

It was a mess crap in places I could not see until I removed all the items.
Thought I would give it a dam good clean, I will not use bleach again trust me lol.
The lemons on the other hand worked a treat she is back in the enclosure now thanks for everyone's opinions.
Also now has less in the enclosure so when I do spot clean I can get everything and she is on news paper not aspen as it stinks from misting.

Aspen will grow mould quickly when misted.. Put cypress bark/mulch in instead.. It holds moisture and doesn't mould easily.

Ill get some next time and try it. My other boa's are on newspaper and the humidity is OK.
I also have moss in a tub with a hole cut out sometimes she gets in it or sometimes I just leave one of the pieces of wood to soak in water and then put it in the enclosure that also works well not had a bad shed yet I check temps/humidity every day sometimes twice.
The news paper is so easy to clean just take it out put one job done but I will try cypress bark/mulch as I have not tried it.
Thanks Mark

Newspaper works fine aswell, holds moisture and is cheaper... I only suggested cypress mulch/bark for cosmetic value incase you wanted substrate that looks a bit more natural.
