Hey I probably posted these before but this is my 2009 male Lacerta dubbed Sonic. I also have a female 2010 the pair live together in a 4x2 which they use all of. I am going to upgrade them to something much larger once I move.

These are great active lizards and you don't see enough of them in collections. I am doing my best to hatch some out hopefully this season!

These pictures are from last year and he is in the middle of a shed (none of it was retained)

So what does their diet consist of and what are the humidity and temp requirements?

They really are quite easy to keep if you have the right know-how like everything else.

Diet: They are carnivores. My pair are voracious eaters They eat Crickets, meal worms, horned worms, super worms, the odd pinky or hopper and when my female is gravid I also offer repashy gecko meal with the added calcium.

Humidity: my pair live in a partially bioactive environment. since their substrate is a combination of black earth and play sand with some plant matter the humidity does not drop below 65% every week I dump a bunch of water on part of the tank which the lizards run to and till into the remaining soil. they also have a large bowl of water.

Temperatures: I use 2 bulbs. a UVB light (I think its a 5.0) and a mercury vapor bulb which puts my basking area at 115F, a hot end between 78-85 and a hot end in the mid 90s.

They really should be in a 6x2 and I am working on that but they seem to do alright in the 4x2. since its a 4x2x2 I have it built up so there is a lot of climbing/ hiding places. I offer 2 basking spots and plenty of hides that my female can get to but my male cannot (he is much larger than she is)

Though females tend to be duller mine is a beauty. When we first saw her everyone was convinced she was a male. She is nearly as bright as him. I would love to finally hatch some offspring. The last time she dropped a clutch I was in the hospital having my son.

Completely separate species. They are probably closer to tegusI haven't looked into them that much, so I don't know much about them. How big do they get? What do you plan to do with the babies?

Umm they are a very manageable size. My male is probably 22 inches from snout to tip of his tail and my female is around 18 inches.

If I manage to hatch them out (incubation is long and kinda delicate) I will keep some of the offspring and rehome others to those I know who will be able to care for them properly

Hopefully someday down the road I can get one or two of these beauties. You should post lots and lots of pics. ;)

If I hatch them this season I will keep you in mind.I wish, but I can't. Getting geckos in May and a snake next week, on top of all of the other pets I have. But definitely someday.
