i would attempt pet cpr

http://www.knowledgeweighsnothing.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/12/petcpr.jpg

idk if it helps lizards but its worth a shot maybe

i wouldnt use as hard of chest compressions. I really have no clue what to do for reptiles but i do hope you can find something. this is really distressing

I am terribly sorry, I know how it feels, but sadly there isn't a lot that can be done. Sorry for your loss.
Was everything normal until now? Will you be having a necropsy done to determine the cause?

Looks like he's gone guys, tried pretty much anything that come to mind I think at the back if my mind I visioned movement after trying things but its clear hes not coming back :'( and yes pretty much everything was fine, temps, humidity held fine, 70/60 top soil play sand except I have him a larger water bowl, not adding any depth it was just bigger on the width I have no idea why this has happend. He could get out of the water bowl with a breeze therefor I'm shocked as to why this has happened :( and to think of all those little moments like the first time they come up to you, then the first time they crawl onto you and before you know it you come back to that :( devistated to say the least especially with my drive to research to ensure he's being kept well. Thanks for all your support, not only on this post but for my other threads that people have helped me on

thats so sad. Today is the day of sads. I am so sorry for your loss. It cannot be easy. Maybe he had an issue you didnt know about that caused the drowning. Could lizards get seizures?

If they do a necropsy and find foam in the lungs then its possible he drowned though that would raise a lot more questions as healthy monitors dont drown, if not then maybe a seizure caused him to flip in his water and his airway cut off before he could actually drown? I am not saying a seizure caused this but I am inquiring about the possibility of a neurological problem that just happened to occur when he was going for a swim or drink.

When I tried applying pressure to his chest there was foamy sort of flemmy like stuff coming out. I'm confused though my sav seemed so happy, was really fast at catching food, would let me handle when ever and would come onto my hand... The only odd thing that's happened twice since I've had my sav is I've had him/her in the morning and he/she was still in the water bowl, one was when I had wood chips substrate, once changed never done it again until I made a hill with the substrate for him to burrow and he some it the day I did that. So after 4 - 5 months he had stayed in his water bowl over night just on two occasions, therefor the only thing that come to my mind was maybe he/she did it again but fell to sleep in the water.. I have no idea why it happened the only one other thing I did which I don't do often is give my sav a hard boiled egg, besides that nothing was unique compared to any other day. Humidity fine, temps fine, Arcadia UV Tube used top soil and play sand mixture and a happy Bosc as far as I could tell but this happened when I got back :(

I am trying to be analytical here as well as sympathetic.

How warm was the water?

Don't disturb the cage, in fact put the water bowl right back as it was, leave everything as you normally would running and tomorrow take a temp reading of the water.

Take a temp reading of your soil.

As I have previously stated, Now you have the setup already in your home, Get all the adjustments made and give a Bosc a good life.

We all know that far too many Boscs fall into the wrong hands, You have the ability to take on another and prevent it from languishing in a fish tank somewhere else.

Unfortunately infernalis I have removed emptied and disinfected the water bowl. And I see where you are getting at, my water bowl was always filled up with warm water, however being on the cold side of the tank I assume the water would soon drop to the temperature of the cold side which was 20 - 21 degrees Celsius, at night was fairly cold well when he slept in his water bowl last time the water was fairly cold, too cold to stay in for a long period of time I know that much but even when he slept in it he was fine. However being wider do you reckon it could have dropped colder than the previous bowl?

What happens is this (You are not the first)

The water cools, the lizard enters the water, the water cools the lizard, the lizard's reflexes slow, until the point where the Bosc can hardly move at all an it eventually drowns.

I keep my water pan close to my basking light area, the water is usually 80+ degrees (F) even at night.

Out on the Savannahs, it's most likely that shallow puddles would be the prevailing water source, And shallow puddles sitting in the hot tropical sun will not be cool water by any means.

OMD! That makes absolutely so much sence but unfortunately my previous posts regarding him staying in the water over night was related to humidity levels when in fact he must have stayed in too long and got his body temperature down so far his mobility was affected. :( the temperature of the water had never hit me before but thinking of it now I always had my water bowls in the cold end and was only until I had bigger ones he had started to do it. On a happy but sad note I'm glad a reasonable cause of death was made, I just wish I made the temperature a cause when it happened before :(

I'm so sorry to hear what happened :( My monitor almost drowned in the water bowl once. I think what infernalis had described was what almost happened. When I found him He had been floating at an odd angle with his eyes closed. When I picked him up he didn't open his eyes or move and I thought I had lost him but he slowly got better. It really did look like he had fallen asleep in the water bowl.

That's good to hear that your Sav made it, I was hoping for a long time my Sav would make a movement, but even when I held him on his back there was no heart beat what so ever :( however u will do as infernalis did.. Do it all again but do everything right.. A lot of my poor methods where because I followed a care sheet which missed out and miss guided me, thankfully to this community my knowledge has broadened phenomenally and when I do feel comfortable getting a new Sav he will be in all the right things top to bottom! Thank you also for showing some care, a lot of people wouldn't understand the bond you can get with a Sav the first time they come up to you special moment, then when they very first walk onto your hand.. I will miss my little Sav but one day I know ill be posting threads again with pictures videos and no doubt questions it's been a blast on here

I am so sorry to hear this happened, and it makes me realize how lucky I was at one point my sav steve was in his water bowl not responding to anything, luckily my girlfriend found him and called me up. I just reached in and grabbed him out of kind of panic and it seemed to jolt him up. He wasn't responding to any touching before I grabbed him.

This was back before I had built his new enclosure, I am going to move his water bowl closer to his basking spot now, it was already near it but I want to be sure.

And again I am so sorry for your loss, but I am sure you will save another sav from living in a fish tank its whole life.
