Hello everyone! I'm new here and wanted to introduce myself! My name is Sarah and I am from Las Vegas, NV, USA. I'm 22 years old and am currently in school to become an veterinarian specializing in exotics.

I own a lot of animals, here's my list:

1.1.0 Northern Blue Tongue Skinks
1.0.0 Meruke Blue Tongue Skink (fostering as rescue)
1.1.0 Leopard Geckos
0.0.1 African Sulcata Tortoise
0.0.1 Madagascar Ornate Plated Skink
0.0.1 Crested Gecko
1.1.0 Bearded Dragons
1.0.0 Rose Hair Trantula
1.0.0 Golden Gecko
1.0.0 Axolotl
0.1.0 Rabbit
1.1.0 Dogs

Yeah, that's 16 total :D

I love my reptiles, and I love my reptile forums. Always looking to learn new things and to help give advice in any way that I can.

The main reason I joined this forum was because I am thinking about taking on a savannah monitor as a rescue but I have no idea how to take care of them. I've started my research but it always helps to have people give advice or tell me what I should be doing differently. I have to make this decision in the next few days and hopefully scrape up the money to rescue this poor little misunderstood monitor who is being housed and cared for improperly. Any and all help/ advice on that would be very much appreciated.

Read the web site links at the bottom of any post made by me.

Also there are many savannah monitor threads in our Varanid lizard section to read through.

I heard you're the best of the best when it comes to Savs! I've already read those links a few times over, and am learning a lot. Great information, you could make a care sheet for pet store that would put Petco/smart to shame I'm sure! I have been lurking around for the last few days reading threads and doing my homework, and then finally made an account last night. Thank you for the great information and advice :)

Welcome! You have quite a collection there. Kudos on becoming an exotics vet, that's unique and something the world needs more of.

I was going to say talk to infernalis about Savs, but looks like he already gave you some info. His thread on Cera and Littlefoot is nice to follow. I'm rooting for you taking on the rescue and turning him/her around. :)

Thank you everyone for the kind words. I hope that I can be a source of knowledge over time here, I have a lot to offer the reptile community.

Come March I should have a set up to where any member of this forum can send me fecal samples and I will lab them for you. I'm trying to get as much experience as I can, and the more and diverse subjects I can add them to my research binder. Yes, my little project revolves around poop lol. But it's an important part of the job of a vet, especially and exotic vet :D
