I picked this up today and I'm going to start working on it tomorrow.
Ignore the extremely old stickers..

The left side screening has two holes so I'm going to have to replace that and the middle piece separating the two sliding screens will need to be remade.

What are you going to use it for?

Yep yay! lol
If you want to keep in the snake, humidity, and heat. Pick up that lid carry it outside to your trash can and place inside. Buy a sheet of plywood, cut it to fit, seal it with a safe water based sealed (mini wax polycrylic works fine). Figure out some way to add a latch and lock to keep it closed. A few heavy books don't work btw.
With the left over plywood, cover the back and 2 sides as well to also help keep humidity and heat in.
Edit, it's a 55gal, they are longer and more narrow then a 50 gal :)

Well since we are in the mood to pick at people.....
That's pointless and terrible information. Its glass, which means it will hold humidity just fine without covering it with plywood.

Ya how would covering it with wood help? If you wanted to make it feel more secure use something lighter like black paper.
The glass will actually retain heat better than wood as well.

Thats what I meant, of course the plywood on the top will help with the humidity.
Thank you forum police ;) Now where do I pay my fine for miss typing?

I'm still planning on getting the wooden one built for the BCC, but I'm not planning on using this anytime soon just getting it nice and fixed up because it was only $40.

I've never had a snake escape and don't plan on it.

Good to know on the size, do you or anyone know how/if I could put plexiglass in there instead of screen?
Look around the edge, if there is a little lip you can put the plexiglass there. If not, get a piece cut to size and fix it to the top. There are different ways to do it depending on how the top of that tank is.

The two screens slide out and the middle piece is easy to take out so I could probably get a fit piece to slide in.

Happens all the time, the "cover the back and 2 sides as well" button is beside the enter key.

There is a way to make that tank have a sliding Plexiglas front. I will look for a link.

Don't you just want to kill Microsoft for that?
