where do i buy Lace monitors and other Australian monitor lizards ?

You don't really see them ever offered. Keep looking. One day, maybe in a few years you'll find them.
You do know that Australia's borders are closed to export so it's REALLY hard to get?

Ackies and Kimberly Rock Monitors are increasingly more common.
Squamata concepts is working with some of the dwarf species, so the lizards are out there.
Just don't get your hopes up for a Lacie anytime soon.
And for the record, The Argus monitors commonly sold right now are the V.P.Hornii (Indo) subspecies, not that I would care about that.

If you mean Australian water dragon, surely they're readily available in North America?
The herp laws may be a pain, but they're in place for a reason. I'm okay with them :)
ReptileSeeker, have you kept other monitors? If not, I'd probably not recommend lace monitors as a first monitor, anyway.

If you have only had a job for 1 month then you are in no shape to get a new animal. You have no security in that job! If you couldn't afford your current pets while being jobless then you don't have enough money saved in the bank account. These animals live for years and years not weeks or days. If someone really wants an animal that can cost thousands of dollars to properly take care of then they should have at least a few thousand saved in the bank just incase. If he did this he would not have been so fast to try and sell his monitor last month. Many reasons this is all crap.. the op is crap.

Not trying to stir the pot... But 100% humidity simply means that the air has reached the saturation point.
My Digital hygrometer maxes out when I set it inside a burrow.
There are other factors involved, Dew Point for instance, Barometric pressure fluctuates, so the amount of water the air can actually hold varies with it.

It's the same deal as the federally protected San Francisco garter snake. It's a felony crime to molest, poach or transport any animals within the confines of the United States, but it's a free market in any other country.
A few snakes were sent to Holland many years ago, every single specimen circulating is a direct descendant of those snakes.
Those Lacies found their way into Europe years ago when it WAS legal to take them, then subsequently bred from there.

Yes, Thankfully the European animals did well. The Arizona batch does not seem to have any descendants circulating in America.
Although if you chose to listen to a certain someone in Arizona, They should be literally all over Craig's list looking for homes because he produced so many.

No, they didn't. It's been illegal to take them out of Australia for a very long time, way before anyone over there bred them. I know the first person to have bred lace monitors in Europe (the only legal founder stock there) and these are not from his bloodline. These animals have been 'laundered'. It's most likely the founder stock consisted of smuggled animals or someone abused their class A zoo privileges and released them into the private trade, which is frowned upon.

Nobody who cares about them is going to sell you one until you can prove you have the right equipment, attitude, and dedication also love and ability to care for them. That's going to take time enough time to do proper research. :)

Limited numbers means a limited market and a limited amount of people that breeders will sell to... If you don't know where they are or personally know (in good terms) with breeders that have them, chances are you'll never own one. No matter your proposed claims of financial ability to purchase one.

Dude, to be honest, I think most people are thinking that you are getting in over your head. Varanid people are very passionate about their reptiles and hate to see them get into the wrong hands.
There is a reason why certain varanids are hard to find. It is because they are hard to keep, not readily bred in captivity, and are not imported regularly. Lace monitors are all 3 of those. The harder they are to find the more expensive they will be. I would not sell a pair of normal lacies cheaper than $6,000 and they would not go to someone who does not have extensive experience with varanids.
