Nice snakes. That Coastal looks very Irian Jaya to me...
Beautiful carpets. I agree with ^...I think that coastal looks like an IJ as well. Could just be the pic.

The pattern on the coastal goes all the way down its side plus has the linear stripe down the side ij's have neither, the coastal came from a breeder friend of mine, he has no hybreds, but thx all

Are you 100% sure of the lineage of each parent?
Typical IJ:

Ok first all my apoligies to everyone, after just getting off the phone with my breeder friend she is indeed an ij, so kudos to all you carpet experts, but never the less my male jungle and her could throw some interesting looking offspring ? Im a little dissapointed though was hoping i had at least one carpet that would get in the 7 to 9 foot range , or is there a chance she could, they are the smaller species of carpets correct ? Thx all for your input !

Your jungle will likely turn out to be the larger of the two. Jungles generally land somewhere in the 6-7 foot range.
Irian Jayas are a bit smaller, and usually land between 5 and 6 feet as adults.
They're both very pretty snakes either way. :)

As far as size goes, it depends on a lot of things. I have a pure ij female that is just over the 8ft mark. It has to do mostly with their genetics. That being said, 8ft for an ij is not very common. They usually stay within the 5-6ft range. Since the breeder is a friend of yours, ask how big the parents are and that will give you a good indication how big she'll end up for you.

Wasn't there some special lineage to that IJ, though??

I can track her lineage back to wild caught adults that were imported in '94. So she is 100% ij, her parents were a little bigger than normal ijs. Also the guy that had her before me her heavy the first 5 years of her life, that plays a part as well.

no need to apologise mate
carpet genetics are so muddled up at times, the only way to tell is from the breeder who produced them
i only just noticed the post where you found out about it being an Irian,or i would'nt have high jacked your thread with pictures of some of mine
sorry mate
cheers shaun
