hey guys,
new to the site but was recommended by a friend to help me try and figure out what is wrong, if anything, with one of my snakes. Toby's skin looks like its about to shed and looks dull but it has been like this for weeks so i know he isn't about to shed. wherever the skin folds it leaves indentations and ripples. he hasn't eaten in about 3 weeks. i dont know if this is part of brumation or what, but if anybody can help me out i would really appreciate it. Ive taken a few photos to help better understand what im talking about

more info on toby
about a year old
40g long viv
aspen shavings
humidity between 40-60% but with the rain sometimes 65
hot spot 86-90 degrees and cold spot room temp
heater set to 70 degrees at night to keep it not to cold at night

My California king has the same problem, but I have no problems with feeding. I had the thought of dehydration but there's no way I could have that problem. If someone knows anything about this, I'd appreciate an answer as well.

Dehydration COULD be the issue but its more likely he's just in shed IMO. It can last a while from time to time, just make sure you have fresh clean water in there with him and he will be okay. As far as the feeding goes 3 weeks is nothing to worry about... my kings do this quite often, after a few month however it may be time to see the vet...

check for dehydration,if not that, look for mites.

I don't think it's dehydration but I will soak him tonight for 30 minutes or so. Just for clarification, do I use warm water or cold?

Use water at about 80°f.

He spends most of his time on the hot side, wouldn't that mean its not dehydration?

No. Just means hes cold lol! When you soak him look for mites in the water...

Well I have him a 30 minute soak and he was less than happy. Water is clean so there are no mites. Does anybody know what else it could be?

could b be old scaring, my ball has the samething on her, when she was rescued from a couple of idiots trying to feed her to a jumbo rat as a hatchling.
