so when i was at walmart tonight i picked up some black construction paper to put on the 3 sides of my tank so when i switch to the pvc tank its not a huge change.

the results. i think she likes it because now she is in the half log hide on the cool side and she has never used that before.

I have no idea what kind of animal you're talking about, but using the hide on the cool side isn't a sign she likes it. Just means she's trying to cool herself. But I'm glad you're happy with the change?

I'm not trying to be mean but I'm sure you don't see her 24 hours a day. She may use it without you knowing.

Also, it may only mean that that hide wasn't secure enough for her to use prior.

Nope hot spot is 88 cool side is 74. I bumpped humidity up to 75-80 because she is in blue.

I don't know what's used as a heater. If a light it MAY be possible but from a UTH probably not.

It may insulate better but it's paper. Highly doubt it.

I use lights to heat and the temps har not moved. I use an acurite for my therm in my tank and kinda hard to mess up a digital therm

Not really. Caliberation just needs to be off and it's a poop thermometer.

I never look at the temps shown on the thermostat, i always set the temps my using a laser thermometer at the point i want the hottest temperature. I have seven thermostats of the same make and the actual temps in the tank compared to the temperature the thermostat is set at can vary from between 1-8F :)

In that case there's a good chance the temps are fluctuating while your not there... So your dum may be cooling down after the temps raised.
