So i decided im going to go with a 48x24x15 tank from animal plastics. yes i know that may be a little over kill for my dums right now being she is only 22 inches. and decided to go with the herpstat
here is what i was thinking. I kinda already got the itch for another snake. do i want a carpet or do i want a ball or go with a red tail? there are to many choices but i am kinda leaning towards the ball route. do i get the herpstat 2 and two 28w rhp and the divider for the tank and buy another tank when my dumerils hits 4-5 feet? will a 24x24 be big enough for an adult ball python? i need to figure out what i want to do before sat so i know exactly what i am going to look for at the reptile show.
what would you guys do?
just stick with one tank and my dums? split the tank and get another snake?

I wouldn't split an enclosure when you need to quarantine separately.
I'd keep the ball python in a tub for 60 - 90 days completely away from the rest of the collection.

well i will have another 20l laying around..
and why do you guys quarintine? just to make sure the new animal does not have any paracites or mites?

Yes. Why else would I quarantine?
I take pride in my animals and my current collection. It's worth more than any single animal I can introduce to it. So why risk all of them for one?

Why don't you figure out your dum and get that under control before you get another snake.Take some time and enjoy this one.

My forst post could of been taken wrong. I didnt mean i was going to get a snake this weekend. Im going for a RHP and a tstat. So either i would need a herp1 or 2 and one or 2 RHPs. I plan to get a pvc tank ordered this month. Just tryig to figure out what route i want to go.

mites, respiratory infections, viral infections, and parasites are just a few of the reasons to quarantine.
There are keepers who lose entire collections because of a nasty one animal brought in. regardless of when you intend to get the snake you should still quarantine for the safety of your other animals

I will and plan on keeping my 20 long tank to quarintine in if and when i do get another snake. But i am calling to place my order on my animal plastics t10 tank in about a half hour.

Thats cool, try to quarantine as far away from your other snake as possible. I have separate feeding tongs for my snakes in QT but you could sterilize them in between if you only have one pair

You can always buy separate enclosures ahead of time and put tje other emclosure in another room for quarentine its good to have a second stat imo as a back up anyway. Plus different species have different heating requirements
