Monster Cages, Sentec Cages,AP Cages....

I have been looking at cages for my female Reticulated Python for awhile now but there are so many brands that I can't decide which is the one. I know most large constrictor owners tend to always go with the Vision Cages but the way my reptile room is built I need to buy an 8 foot enclosure and Vision only makes 6 footers. So that is now out of my book. I have been looking at Monster Cages and right now they seem to be the one I am going to get but the one thing that kind of holds me back is that they are pull down doors. I wanted to get everyones opinion who have owned/own large constrictors on what they think of pull down doors. For me I feel pull downs are a little more dangerous then sliding if you are feeding because you have to open the door a lot wider to stick the prey item in. I still can't decide on what cage I want and really would appreciate everyones opinions on what I should get. Thank you!

I personally dont have experience with any pvc cages but i am looking at ap. i have been on the phone with them many times and there quality and customer service is superb. I will personally going with ap the end of this month for my dumerils. Good luck on your choice.

If you can afford Sentec, that's the way to go. They are EXPENSIVE but you get what you pay for, Eric really knows his stuff and keeps his giants in them (he breeds retics among other things).

Matt at Monster is a buddy, talk with him and I'm sure he can help you figure something out with sliding vs drop down. I'm sure he can help since sliding is the way to go with big snakes and he keeps them.

I love visions, why do you think you need an 8 footer vs a 6? Plenty of big snake breeders keep their big females in 632s or 622s.

Yep, I'd ensure to get sliding doors. They will be a lot better in the end due to the ability to have a smaller working area if you have a retic who is antsy about eating when you go to feed.

I love vision cages, and am on edge of ordering 4 more (600,622, and 632's) for my retics. Right now, though I am playing with the thought of going with AP simply because a lot of people have had some complaints about visions sagging. I'm assuming you dont have enough space for the width of the vision? (30" and 36"). They are monsterly wide cages that's for sure! You can also consider Boaphile Plastics, but they have been having some quality issues in the last few months, and that needs to be considered before going with them at present.

Also the Sentec are amazing high quality cages, but they will run you nearly double it seems than what AP or Visions cost.

there's a simple solution to the visions sagging problem, built a frame out of wood to sit underneath it with an extra plank or two running down the middle.

I love PM Herps caging, but I don't think they go bigger than 4 feet long. I suggest Monster Cages for the big snakes, or Vision. I have my Burm in a 5.5' x 3.5' Vision I got used. It's a great cage.

When my dad and I built our reptile "Table" we built it about 97" long, 36" deep. Right now it holds three 4foot cages and one 3 foot. Our plan was to buy an 8 foot cage so we can just stack two 4footer on top and so on. That is why I have to lean towards an 8 foot cage. Definitely think I am going to go for the Monster cages because they are great prices and the only bad thing I have heard about them is that they are just heavy which is fine by me.
